128.  Build ye on every
high place a monument for vain delight.
129.  And seek ye out
strongholds, that haply ye may last for ever –

  force, seize ye as tyrants?
131.  So keep your duty
  to Allah, and obey me.
132.  Keep your duty
toward Him Who hath aided you with (the good things) that ye know.

Commentary
Rii-‘in – (high place), it is a Noun from rii-‘a.
The word “ray-‘aan” has been derived from the same, which means “to
grow, to increase, to spring, to be powerful”. Rii-‘un means “a rising
ground and elevated place”.
The people of the tribe of ‘Aad used to construct high
minarets, elaborate palaces and buildings. And if they used to get an
opportunity upon any feeble, they used to oppress him more than any ravenous.
Prophet Huud (peace be upon him) caused to understand them: O slaves of Allaah!
Why do you destroy your wealth and time for the sake of games, fame and renown?
Will you live in this world always? Fear Allaah Almighty and obey that
which I say. Allaah Almighty has given you all things for your ease and
comfort. The cattle, the sons, the gardens and the water-springs, these entire
things are His grant. If you did not keep your duty to Him in the world, then an
Awful Day is coming soon and I fear that you will be entangled in a great
misfortune on that Day due to your own disobedience.
