Imposture of the Jews

‘Al-Maaa-‘idah (the Table Spread) – Chapter – 5)–Stage - 2

BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim

In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

61.  When they come unto you (Muslims), they say: We believe; but they came in unbelief and they went out in the same. And Allaah knoweth best what they hide.

62.  And thou seest many of them vying one with another in sin and transgression and their devouring of illicit gain. Verily evil is what they do.  

63.  Why do not the Rabbis and the priests forbid their evil-speaking and their devouring of illicit gain? Verily evil is their handiwork.         
61.  Wa  ‘izaa  jaaa-‘uukum  qaaluuu  ‘aamannaa  wa  qad-dakhaluu  bil-kufri  wa  hum  qad  kharajuu  bih.  WAllaahu  ‘a’-lamu  bimaa  kaanuu  yaktu-muun. 

62.  Wa  taraa  kasiiram-minhum  yusaari-‘uuna  fil-‘ismi  wal-‘udwaani  wa  ‘aklihimus-suht.  La-bi’-sa  maa  kaanuu  ya’-maluun. 

63.  Law-laa  yanhaa-humur-Rabbaa-niyyuuna  wal-‘ahbaaru  ‘an-  qawlihimul-‘isma  wa  ‘akli-himus-suht.  Labi’-sa  maa  kaanuu  yasna-‘uun.

                                                                                                                           

Lesson

Allaah Almighty says that the Jews do not withdraw from their wickedness and consider themselves pure from the sins. They treat the obedient servants of Allaah Almighty ill and find different sorts of faults into them, whereas they do not have any new thing except the obedience of Allaah Almighty. It is revealed from it that believing in Allaah Almighty and doing good works are considered by them as evil deeds. How much this insistence is? Then it was told that even they make the summons for the prayer (Azaan) a jest.

Another bad deed of some people, from those who jest, has been mentioned in this verse. When these people are between their own people, where Muslims do not exist, they laugh much jesting at the Muslims and their deeds, and say about them that they are fool, stupid and many other likewise talks. But when they are with the Muslims and the Messenger of Allaah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him), then they begin to flatter and say, “We have believed”.

Allaah Almighty informs, “O Muslims! They are impostors. When they come towards you, say by making their face like innocent, “we are believers and your guardians”. But they are liars and display themselves against the condition, in which actually they are. No distinction comes in the depravity of their hearts, whether they are with you or away from you. In the both conditions, their hearts have been overflown with the enmity and hatred with you, while their mouths proclaim “we are Muslims” and they claim that they are believers.

Their condition is that, when they attend your conference, they are disbelievers and when they are separate from you, at that time too, they are infidels. They came in unbelief and they went out in the same. But they got nothing by hiding their infidelity and accepting the belief by their tongue. Allaah Almighty knows best what they hide and He was Knower also at that time when they were admitting by tongue of belief. They thought, “We shall remain with Muslims apparently as believers, but cut their roots internally”. But Allaah Almighty, Who is All-Knowing, divulged their secret.

Allaah Almighty commands that the scholars and educated persons are responsible for the sins and oppressions of the common people. He says, “You see many people of them vie one with another in sins and transgression rapidly. They trouble and press them unjust, devour forcibly by snatching the earned property of the necessitous people, because there is a common practice of usury and interest with them, and that can be gotten only from the needy people.  

It is revealed that reaping advantage from the need of any needy person unlawfully is contrary to the humanity and the money earned likewise is unlawful. Why do not their Scholars, Rabbis and the priests forbid their evil-speaking and their devouring of illicit gain? Actual badness in the Jews was the same that the rich used to do what they wished, and their Rabbis and priests used to enjoy more than them by taking wealth from them, and in its retaliation, they used to adjudge the unlawful matters as lawful, which were useful for the rich people. It was the reason that the religion was deteriorated and the only purpose of life was “Fill your own homes and enjoy yourselves well by tyrannizing the poor.

In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

59.  Say: O People of the Scripture! Do ye blame us for aught else than that we believe in Allaah and that which is revealed unto us and that which was revealed aforetime, and verily most of you are evil-livers?

60.  Shall I tell thee of a worse (case) than theirs for retribution with Allaah? (Worse is the case of him) whom Allaah hath cursed, him on whom His wrath hath fallen and of whose sort Allaah hath turned some to apes and swine, and who serveth the Devil. Such are in worse plight and further astray from the straight path.      
59.  Qul  yaaa-‘Ahlal-Kitaabi  hal  tanqi-muuna  minnaaa  ‘illaaa  ‘an  ‘aamannaa  BIllaahi  wa  maaa  ‘unzila  ‘ilaynaa  wa  maaa  ‘unzila  min  qablu,  wa  ‘anna  ‘ak-sarakum  faasi-quun.

60.  Qul  hal  ‘unabbi-‘ukum  bi-sharrim-min-  zaalika  masuubatan  ‘indAllaah.  Malla-‘anaHUllaahu  wa  gaziba  ‘alayhi  wa  ja-‘ala  min-humul-qiradata  wal-khanaaziira  wa  ‘abadat-Taaguut.  ‘Ulaaa-‘ika  sharrum-makaananw-wa  ‘azallu  ‘an  sawaaa-‘is-sabiil.

                                                                                                                           

Lesson

Tanqi-muuna – (You blame us), it is from naqmat, which means “to find fault, to take someone in a bad sense”. It aims “You rage upon us”. It is apparent that blaming, abusing or troubling anyone by finding fault in his skill, is usually due to opposite thought. So the word tanqi-muuna has been translated as blame. Masuubatan   is a second form of Sawaab (Reward), which means “Retaliation of any good or bad deed”. Here it signifies towards “retaliation of bad deed and its punishment”.  Khanaaziira – is plural of Khinziir, which means a swine.

The Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) of Allaah Almighty and through Him, other Muslims are being addressed in this verse that they should ask the People of the Scripture, “Why are you angry upon us? We have never said any such a word, due to which, you became our enemy. Any new thing, which can be seen into us, is only that we have chosen Allaah Almighty as our only Worshipped. We believe in Him heartily and understand the Holy Qur’aan as His true Scripture, as well as believe in those all Scripture, revealed before it, are true. The Holy Qur’aan has also declared that those Holy Books were true and it has placed their original commands either as those were or with a suitable change. Our duty is to obey and act upon those commands. On the contrary, which new things has been observed into you is, that many people out of you have become disobedient and gripped up their loins to disbelieve in the commands of their own Scripture. If they had believed in their commands, then it would have become compulsory for them to believe in the Holy Qur’aan, because they have been ordered in those commands that they should have to believe in the Last Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) and His Scripture, the Holy Qur’aan and obey their commands. These two different things are visible clearly between you and us i.e. we obey the commands of God Almighty, but you disobey. Is it good that you take our obedience in a bad sense and yours disobedience in a good sense and oppose us? If you don’t have enmity with us due to the reason that we are obedient of Allaah Almighty, then tell us! Which is other reason of bad relations between you and us?

If you will afflict us, all the equitable will say only that the Jews and the Christians dislike the Muslims because they serve and obey God Almighty. Maximum people of you are disobedient and refractory. Your decision that the Believers are bad and able to punished, is as slaying the justice, which is entirely opposite to the fact”.
                     
Then Allaah Almighty commands to say them, “We tell you about those, who are worse and deserve worse retribution. They are those people, whom Allaah Almighty has cursed, on whom His wrath has fallen and some of whom were turned to apes and swine in old time”. The person, who is found with these evils, has been fallen from the grade of humanity and has gone back from the Straight Path. That person is abominable and should be punished.

The Jews themselves and the persons, who were aware of their history, they all were acquainted that these all matters are applicable upon them (the Jews). They were cursed by Allaah Almighty and His wrath was fallen on them too. Out of them were turned to apes and swine, and they were also from the Jews, who became worshippers of calf by following Satan. We have discussed all these matters in Surah Al-Baqarah.

Declaration about the Greatness of God in Azaan

BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

And when ye call to prayer they take it for a jest and sport. That is because they are a folk who understand not.  
Wa  ‘izaa  naa-daytum  ‘ilas-Salaa-titta-khazuuhaa  huzu-wanw-wa  la-‘ibaa.  Zaalika  bi-‘annahum  qawmul-laa  ya’-qiluun.   

                                                                                                                           

Lesson


It was told in the previous lesson that the Jews and the Christians make a jest and sport of your religion. That has been illustrated in this verse. Allaah Almighty says, “When you call to prayer (Azaan is a summons to prayer), they take it for a jest and sport. It is clear that there is no such a thing in this Call (Azaan), which should be made a jest. There is a declaration about the Greatness and Magnificence of God (Allaah Almighty) in this Call. It has been admitted in it that He is One and Actual Worshipped, and Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) is His Messenger, who is the last Messenger and has brought last “Divine Law of the Religion”, who adjudges that entire previous Messengers and Prophets (peace be upon Them) were true and this last Divine Law is abstract and exact of all Divine Laws of former Messengers (peace be upon Them).

With regard to the morality, He {Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him)} is the Spiritual Guide of the entire good people, supports and corrects the condition of every person, and guides others to do the same between you mutually and does not have any evil wish for anyone. He (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) instructs that you should neither involve in any quarrel, nor overpower others for fulfilling of own wishes and nor reap advantage by harming someone else.

There is nothing in the words of summons for prayer (Azaan) but to admit that “God (Allaah Almighty) and His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) are Rightful”, and to invite the entire human beings towards the goodness and the virtue. Who can be that person except a stupid and a fool, who makes a jest of such description? These are the matters with which safety and peace can be established in the world and the humankind can arrange his form.

If it is imagined then you will see that there is a proclamation (in Azaan) of peace and safety for the entire human beings, and correct way of their life has been told completely. There is an invitation in the summons of the prayer, “Let’s stand up all collectively in front of One True Worshipped (God, Allaah Almighty) and move on the way explained by His Last Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him). Neither anyone is great nor little. All are equal before Allaah Almighty and only He is the Greatest. Let’s tie our hands, bow humbly standing before Him. Beg from Him earnestly because the devotion is only for Him. Don’t be slaves of your desires.

The Words of AZAAN-The call towards Salaah –(Prayer)

AZAAN is SUNNAH only for the five incumbent Prayers and for JUMAH (FREDAY Prayer)
.  
AZAAN is not required for any other prayer.  

AZAAN means to inform, but in Shar'iah AZAAN means to inform of a particular Prayer in particular wordings.  
The Azaan for every incumbent prayer should be called out in its prescribed time.  
If it was called before the time then it must be called again at the correct time. 

HOW TO CALL OUT AZAAN
When the time for Prayer comes, the MUAZZIN stands up and calls out aloud these words: 

(Allaahu Akbar. Allaahu Akbar)
Allaah is the greatest of all. Allaah is the greatest of all
 

(Allaahu Akbar. Allaahu Akbar)
Allaah is the greatest of all. Allaah is the greatest of all 

  (‘Ash-hadu ‘Al-laaa’- ‘ilaaaha  ‘illAllaahu)
I testify that there is none worthy of worship but Allaah

(‘As-Salaatu khayrum-minan-nawn)
Namaaz is better than sleep. Namaaz is better than sleep. 
and in Fajr Azaan after hearing  
one should say  (Sadaqta wa bararta) You have spoken the truth and you have done good.  
Duaa after Azaan 

 (Allaahumma Rabba  haazi-hidda’-watit-taaa’-mati  was-Salaatil  qaaa-‘imati  ‘Aati  Muhammada  nil  wasiilata  wal-faziilata waddara-jatittaaa’-‘ammata  Wab-‘ashu  maqaamam-Mahmuuda  nillazii  wa  ‘attahuu  ‘InnaKa  laa  tukhliful  Mii-‘aad)

O Allaah! Lord of this perfect Call and of the Salaat about to be established bestow upon Muhammad the Wasilah (intercession) Grace and lofty rank. Establish him on Maqaame Mahmood which You have promised him. Verily, You do not go against the promise 
THERE ARE SEVEN MUSTAHABS IN AZAAN
1.To stand facing the QIBLAH.
2. Not to make haste in saying Azaan.
3. To put both index fingers in the ears.
4. To call Azaan from a high place.
5. To say Azaan in a loud voice.
6. To turn the face right when saying and to the left when saying 
7. To say  twice after in the Azaan for Fajr Namaaz. 
Saying Azaan without Wudhu is permissible but it is bad to make a habit of it.
Azaan is SUNNAT, but as it reveals a special glory of Islam, much stress is laid on it. 
IQAAMAT
Q. What is Iqaamat?
A. Iqaamat is to repeat the wordings of Azaan at the beginning of FARZ Namaaz.  But in Iqaamat after 
say twice
The (jamaat) prayer is ready
In Takbir (Iqaamat) after hearing  one should say 

May Allah establish it and keep it forever
Saying Iqaamat without wudhu is MAKROOH
AZAAN and  IQAAMAT  are SUNNAT for MEN only. 
Iqaamat is SUNNAT for FARZ namaaz only. It is not Sunnat for any other namaaz. 
Q. If anyone says his Farz Salaat at home, should he say Azaan and Iqaamat?
A. Azaan and Iqaamat in the neighbouring Masjid will be sufficient, but it is better to say them at home also.
Q. Should a traveller say Azaan and Iqaamat during a journey?
A. Yes. Both Azaan and Iqaamat should be said when one is at a lonely place. It won't matter if one says only Iqaamat and not Azaan. However, it is Makrooh to leave the both.
Q. Is it permissible if one person says the Azaan and another says the lqaamat?
A. If one who said the Azaan is not present or if he is there but does not mind, then another person may say Iqaamat. If the person who said Iqaamat minds, then it is Makrooh for another person to say the Iqaamat.
Q. How much time should be allowed to pass between Azaan and Iqaamat?
A. In all Salaats except Maghrib, one should wait for the Iqaamat till the persons who are eating or are in the toilet can join the Namaaz. In Maghrib Salaat it is advisable that after the Azaan Iqaamat should be said after the lapse of the time equal to the reciting of THREE AAYATS. 
IJAABAT
Q. What is IJAABAT for Azaan and Iqaamat and what is the order for that?
A. Ijaabat for both Azaan and Iqaamat is MUSTAHAB. Ijaabat means that those hearing should the wordings as the Muazzin or Mukabbir says. However, after hearing  and  
one should say  
There is no Power and might except from Allaah, The Most High, The Great. 
In Fajr, azaan after hearing

Adhan and Iqamah
Saying the Azaan holds great benefits and reward as mentioned in the Ahadith.
1) The Prophet of Allah has said, "I went to paradise and saw domes of pearl and its dirt is of musk." He said, "Oh Gabrial, who is this for?" He replied, "This if for your ummah's Muazzin (one who says the Azaan) and Imams." [Rawahu Abu Ya'la Fee Musnad]
2) The one who says Azaan for Sawaab is like that martyred who is drenched in blood and when he will die insects will not come on in his body. [Rawahut Tabrani]
3) If people knew how much reward there was in Azaan then swords would be used amongst them [to say it]. (Rawahu Ahmad)
4) The duaa between Azaan and Iqamah is not rejected. [Abu Daood & Tirmizi]
How to say Azaan
5) Stand outside the mosque in a high place facing the qibla with your fingers in the hole of the ears or with hands on your ears, reciting the following words:

During Iqama do not put your fingers in your ears and do not not put your hands on your ears, say the iqama with a lower voice compared to the azaan but not so low that the people there can not hear, say the words of Iqamah without pauses like in Azaan.
To stand at the beginning of Iqama is Makrooh
10) During iqama all people present, Imam and Muqtadee, should be sitting. When the Mukabbir (one who says the Iqama) reaches everybody should stand up while standing up before this is against the Sunnah. Imam Mohammed (D. 189 Hijri), student of Imam-e-Azam Abu Hanifa (Radi-Allahu anhu) & teacher of the teacher of Imam Bukhari writes in his famous book of hadith, Muta Shareef,
"When the Muazzin says it is mustahab for the people to stand for salaah, get into saf, straighten the saf, and be shoulder to shoulder. This is the fatwa (verdict) of (Imam-e-Azam) Abu Hanifa Rahmatu-llahi alaih." [Muatta Sharif P. 68]
11) Some people would stand before during iqama. Prophet of Allah said, "Do not stand up until you see me. " (Bukhari)
12) It is Makrooh to stand and wait at the time of iqama instead one should sit-down and stand when the muazzin says [Raddul Muhtar V. 2 P. 71 & Fatawa Alamgiri V. 1 P.57]
The Answer to Azaan and Iqama
13) When azaan is being said one should listen very attentively, answering the azaan. At that time, one is not allowed to talk, to say salaam, or to answer to a salaam. Even if some one is reading the Holy Quran they too are ordered to stop and answer the azaan.
In the Ahadith the following benefits have been mentioned
In exchange of every Kalima, Allah writes 100,000 goodnesses [in your record of deeds], upgrades you by 1,000 grades and removes 1,000 of your sins. [Ibn-e-Asakar]
14) In Tabrani it is stated for exchange of every kalima one will be upgraded by one million grades.
15) It is enough for a misfortune and misery of a mumin that when he hears the muazzin say the takbeer and does not answer it.
16) When the muazzin says azan, whoever says the same [words], when he says or
they answer , they will enter paradise [Muslim]
17) In reply to , one should say and to answer one should say

In Azaan, it is Mustahab to kiss the thumbs and the index finger upon the name of the Prophet
19) When the Muazzin says , read this durood , kiss the thumbs and put them over the eyes then say for whoever says this The Holy Prophet will be his leader in Jannah. (Raddul-Muhtar written by Khatim-ul-Muqiqeen Allama Ibn Abideen Shami Rahmatullahi alaih, V.2 P.68)
20) The Holy Prophet, "Whoever kissed the nails of both his thumbs upon hearing I am his leader and I will get him into the saf of Jannah.

and kissed the segmented part of the fingers of shahadah from the inside and placed them on his eyes. Upon this the Beloved Prophet of Allah said,"Whoever does like my friend has done, for him my intercession (Shafa'ah) well become halal.
