Commentary

There were two great Empires of the world before arrival of the last Messenger, Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) in the world – The Empires of Iran and Rome. Those both Dominions used to remain in war condition since long. The Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) was born in 570 AD and Messenger-hood was bestowed to him in 610 AD. With effect from 602 AD up to after 614 AD, Iran and Rome remained at war. After five years of Muhammad’s Apostleship (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him), Iran defeated heavily to the Rome and drove out the Romans from Syria, Egypt and Asia Minor. And then during 615 AD, Iran got ready to assault upon Constantinople, which was Capital of Rome.

When the people of Makkah heard this News that disbelievers of Allaah Almighty, Persians who were adorers of fire, had overcome upon the Romans, who were Christians and believers of Allaah Almighty, they said: We (to whom you say Infidels O Muslims!) shall overcome upon you in the same way, because you say yourselves believers. The Muslims suffered a shock from such talks.

It has been described in these verses that defeat and victory are in the Power of Allaah Almighty. The war between the Persians and the Romans was their national war – which of them would have more power, had to overcome upon the other. If today, the Persians have got victory, then within nine years, the Romans will overcome upon the Persians, and during that period; the Muslims will overcome upon the Infidels of Arab. And then they will gain double pleasure. Accordingly, this prediction was fulfilled and during 624 AD, the Romans drove out the Persians from their Country and entered in Iran themselves. During the same year, the Muslims defeated the Infidels of Makkah in the Battle of Badr and put them down for ever.

Introduction of “THE ROMANS

Chapter RUUM” - (THE ROMANS) - 30

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahiminash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

According to the Order, this is Thirtieth Chapter of Holy Qur’an. It contains six Sections. It was revealed during the middle times of stay in Makkah. Disbelievers of Makkah had been opposing the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) and his companions (May Allaah be pleased with them) by all means and they were thinking that Islamic Principles would destroy their society, that is to say, their particular way of living. In accordance with the Islamic teachings, the Creator; the Lord and the Paramount Power of the world was only Allaah Almighty. Those people only are successful who determine that their Worshiped is God Almighty. Before six or seven year of Departure from Makkah, it happened that the Persians made violent attack upon the Romans, and assaulted upon the Countries around the Arab which were under Administrative jurisdiction of Rome. Idolaters of Arab were supporters of Iran because they used to disbelieve in Allaah Almighty. In this regard, those both were like one another.

Holy Qur’an had informed the Muslims that the Christians had belief in Allaah Almighty as a True God and that; Jesus (peace be upon him) was His Messenger. Therefore, they were the People of the Scripture. Naturally the Muslims were sympathizers of the Romans, because they also were a nation of God’s Prophet and had belief in Allaah Almighty. By chance, the Persians defeated the Romans, took at first Jerusalem and then Damascus under their possession. Next year they conquered Egypt also and got ready to attack upon Constantinople. When this News reached Arab, the Idolaters were pleased very much and began to vex the Muslims that “Disbelievers of Allaah Almighty had defeated His Believers. So whatever your Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) teaches you that Allaah Almighty is Most Powerful, has been disproved by this happening. He could not help His believers, and disbelievers got victory”.

During those days, this Chapter was revealed, in which it has been described clearly that the Romans will vanquish over the Persians after some years and they will rush headlong into their Country by defeating them. Then Muslims will have double pleasure. Firstly that the Romans, who are believers of Allaah Almighty; will overpower their enemies (the Persians) who disbelieve in Allaah Almighty, and secondly that the Muslims will break the backbone of the Infidels of Makkah also. Accordingly after seven years, the Romans defeated the Persians gravely, and on the other side; the Idolaters of Makkah suffered a hard defeat in the Battle of Badr.

It has been described in this Chapter that Sovereignty of Allaah Almighty is over the entire worlds. He gives respite to those who disbelieve in Him, but they do not refrain from wickedness. At last they consequently are disgraced and killed by the Believers. The Believers of Allaah Almighty should not be confused if some difficulties come before them. It is a test of their patience and steadiness. At the end they will get victory.

What does this Chapter teach us? - Quran Chapter 29: Summary (Pt-21, Stg-5) (L-2506) درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 29: Summary (Pt-21, Stg-5) (L-2506) درس قرآن

What does this Chapter teach us?

Chapter ’Al-‘Ankabuut”- (The Spider) - 29

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahiminash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

The Muslims, who were few in numbers and had been bearing great troubles from the hands of Infidels in Makkah, strengthened themselves so much that they got completely ready wholeheartedly to endure every kind of toil and labor in the Path of Allaah Almighty. In this Chapter, ocean of the desire of pleasing and sympathy has been boiling up along with dignity of satisfaction; so much that before which; confusion, sadness and restlessness cannot stay in any condition. Even in the present circumstances too, this Chapter encourages those Muslims who are embarrassed, as it used to embolden in the past. But belief and faith of these Muslims have been decreased comparing to those slaves of Allaah Almighty, who heard it in the beginning and cherished in their hearts, and who had strong belief and faith. Its way of explanation is so much rare that a mankind cannot think. It touches the heart directly by means of the ears.

It is commanded: O Muslims! As you have accepted Allaah Almighty, so you should be ready for trial. Belief is not mere words, but it is tested that whether it has influence on the heart or otherwise. The Belief takes ones heart which can never be removed by anyone. Belief of all ancient people was examined. Those, who passed this examination; became rich in blessings of the world and the Hereafter.

It is commanded: These ignorant people cannot escape from Us who have been troubling you. Molesting by them becomes cause of increasing your grades. Behold! You should never ascribe plurality to Allaah Almighty. Even you should not obey your parents if they say to you to leave Islam. So, none can push you back from Oneness of God. Hurting by any mankind is nothing against the torment of Allaah Almighty. The idolaters will tempt you that you should give up Islam and adopt old way of paganism and infidelity, but you should not fall into their scheming. They cannot profit you in any matter. Think about ancient nations that how did they disbelieve in Allaah Almighty and were entangled in different kinds of destruction. Their wicked deeds became misfortune for them. No one could save them from the Wrath of Allaah Almighty. However those who believed and obeyed the Commands of Allaah Almighty, He made them rich in blessings of the world and in the Hereafter also, they will have great degrees. You should not take the world into consideration. This jollity is only for a few days which will be finished. And they will severely be punished after death, in the next life, who think only about the life of this world. Then they will repent. The last Message of this Chapter, which is Water of Life is that, “those who will strive for Us - We will surely open for them the way of success. Allaah Almighty is with them who do good works honestly and sincerely.

Commentary

The people of Makkah committed really a great mistake that in the beginning, they rejected Islam intentionally. They remained involved in the same mania; in which their forefathers were. Greed of the world, temptation of wealth and property had made them blind. The same misfortune has kept the mankind subdued with effect from the beginning of the world. And nowadays, it has become an open object of the people that they declare openly: We need money at every cost whether we lose our life. (Let life go if wealth remains).

The people of Makkah were caused to understand by every means that: Behold! Allaah Almighty has everything. They denied the Truth and said: We have been receiving everything by adoring the idols, whereas it was entirely a lie, false imputation and killing the justice.

It has been commanded in this verse: The greatest tyrant is that person who does not accept the truth, but violates it. Such kinds of people are unable to understand that abode of those, who disbelieve in Allaah Almighty, is surely Hell. We say openly that those who strive for Us - We will surely guide them to Our ways. Allaah Almighty is with them who do good works honestly and sincerely, and He is their Supporting Friend and Helper.

Commentary

In this verse, one such matter has been reminded to the Idolaters of Makkah, by which their stubbornness comes before eyes clearly and it becomes sure that they had gripped up their loins to do injustice, and truly they deserved punishment, which Allaah Almighty gave them by means of the Muslims. The people of Makkah were safe from plundering and ravaging by the fortune of “The Square Building” (Ka’bah). In the remaining entire Arab, life of none was safe. They had no work to do accept raiding upon one another, general massacre and plundering. However, all of them used to revere the Dignity of The Square Building. The Township of Makkah was situated around this Building and the people of this Township were considered as they were guardians of The Square Building. Therefore they also were respectable for all. There was a circle around Makkah. The person, who used to reside in this circle or who used to fly here for shelter, was protected from any stroke of his enemy.

It is commanded: We are, Who arranged to build this Place of safety and peace, which is called “a Sanctuary”. The people of everywhere and its adjacent are being slaughtered and plundered. But no one comes to this side. Do you know, Who inspired the greatness of this Place in their hearts?

Allaah Almighty commands: it is Our Work and We have obstructed the people from plundering here. Then, is it not injustice that you entirely forgot Our Favor, which is really a Truth and which was your moral obligation to acknowledge according to justice? And you began to adore self-fabricated false gods by stubbornness. What ungratefulness would be more than it? But it is evident disloyalty.

66.  Liyakfuruu  bimaaa  ‘aatay-Naahum,  wa  liyatamatta-‘uu,  fasawfa  ya’-lamuun.

Commentary

For manifesting the reality of the world, some questions were asked from the people at first, object of which was to warn about the Belief in the Uniqueness and Oneness of Allaah Almighty. Then it was commanded: While you believe in Allaah Almighty, then it is incumbent that you should admit that the entire Excellences are in Him only. By escaping from infidelity and ascribing plurality to Allaah Almighty, you should worship Him only, so that your life of the Hereafter may be dressed. And you may succeed in acquiring abode in the Garden, as reward of the obedience of God’s Commandments. Spending entire time in worldly matters is useless. Pay attention to Allaah Almighty!

It is commanded in this verse: This is the behavior of the people that when they are entangled in any calamity, they begin to supplicate Allaah Almighty and give up adoring their gods entirely; which was their daily routine work, and turn towards Allaah Almighty, as it often happens that when a ship is surrounded in Sea-storm, then its all boarders pay attention to Allaah Almighty purely. But it is wonderful that when Allaah Almighty saves them from the affliction and delivers them to the land safe and sound, then they begin again to commit left wicked deeds and adore others instead of Allaah Almighty. It seems that they wish to reap advantages from the Favors of Allaah Almighty but again become ungrateful to Him, because if they will obey His Command; which is actual way of His thankfulness, then they would have to give up the enjoyments of the world and the liberty; which is an imaginary matter only.

It is commanded: They have seriously been taken in that they would not be asked about their obstinacy. It would be better for them if they refrain from stubbornness, otherwise they will be beaten black and blue so much that the world will remain astonished.

Commentary

Hayawaanu – (that, which is living or has life), it aims that “the home of the Hereafter is such home in which there is a real life”.

At the end of the last verse, it was commanded: Most of the people have no sense, otherwise they could understand it easily that none lived in the world for ever. All of human beings have to die one after another. So - ease and comfort, pain and grief of this world are nothing. Therefore one should pay regard to Allaah Almighty, have belief in His Promises and try to acquire ease and pleasure of the Day of Resurrection. The same has been explained very clearly in this verse, so that those, who are careless, may draw their attention towards the actual matter if they are unable to understand themselves.

It is commanded: Considering that the life of this world is “the fundamental object” is entirely negligence. It is like a pastime and amusement only, as you give some time to your children for playing. Then you instruct them to spend their time in home works, which may be useful for them to arrange for their future life. Like this, you also should understand it that you too should be engaged in worldly matters as much as you like to keep your children spared for games and amusements. If any child becomes sportive only, it is considered that he is good-for-nothing.

Like this, worldly life is just like play and game for all of you, for which only limited time should be spared according to necessity. Actual life is the life of the Hereafter. Therefore, maximum time should be spent for preparation of that life. And the preparation of that life is “to abide by the Commands of Allaah Almighty”.

Commentary

It is commanded: Management of livelihood is in the Power of Allaah Almighty. He gives provision according to His will, because He is Aware of everything and knows advisability of every matter. He produces such causes for whom He desires to extend the subsistence and gives with measurement from whom He desires to restrict it, but He does not deprive of any living creature.

Like this, He can change circumstances of any person at any time without delay. When He desires; makes the rich - poor; and the poor - rich, the prosperous - wretched; and the wretched - prosperous. Ask from them: Who causes to rain from the sky, by which dry and dead earth becomes green and fresh; all sorts and kinds of things grow from it? They will answer: Everything is done by Allaah Almighty. Then say O Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) to them: Now it is proved that all Excellence is of Allaah Almighty. Believers should place their trust in Him and should never be confused from worldly temporary troubles. He will remove very soon all difficulties by His Omnipotence. But alas! Most of the people do not use their sense. They give importance to worldly comfort and troubles, but do not give importance to the Promises of Allaah Almighty, whereas they accept that everything is done by Him.
