52. And thou seest those in whose heart is a disease race toward them, saying! We fear lest a change of fortune befall us. But it may happen that Allaah will vouchsafe (unto thee) the victory, or a commandment from His Presence. Then they will repent them of their secret thoughts.
53. Then will the believers say (unto the people of the Scripture): are these they who swore by Allaah their most binding oaths that they were surely with you? Their works have failed, and they have become the losers.
52. Fataral-laziina fii quluu-bihim-marazuny-yusaari-‘uuna fiihim yaquuluuna nakh-shaaa ‘an- tusiibanaa daaa-‘irah. Fa-‘asAllaahu ‘any-ya’-tiya bil-fathi ‘aw ‘amrim-min ‘indiHii fayus-bihuu ‘alaa maaa ‘asarruu fiii ‘anfu-sihim naadimiin.

Commandment of Allaah Almighty
Lesson # 632 From Holy Qur’aan
Commandment of Allaah Almighty
‘Al-Maaa-‘idah (the Table Spread) – Chapter – 5)–Stage - 2
Verses – 52 & 53 of 120, Section – 8 of 16 (Part - 6)
In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
there were some such people, who had not faith in the new raising group of Muslims. They were unable to understand that how the believers of an entirely new thing will overcome such ancient and experienced nations like the Infidels of Makkah, the Jews and the Christians. These people were the Hypocrites of Madinah, apparently Muslims, and the leader of whose was AbdUllaah bin Ubayee. He expected always that the Muslims would have to suffer any trouble very soon.
It has been told in the verse that such people are heart patients. Worthiness of worldly splendor has excelled them. They do not know the Dignity of Allaah Almighty. They do not respect properly the Messenger of Allaah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) and His Companions (may Allaah be pleased with Them) according to Their stateliness. They are far away from the Belief and say that it is not sagacity to trust in the Muslims. It is the intelligence that the Jews should be chosen as supporters for the time of calamity. So they rush by running into them.
Allaah Almighty describes, “It may happen that Allaah will vouchsafe (O Messenger! Unto You) the victory, or a commandment from His Presence. Then they will repent them of their secret thoughts”. So it was happened and the Muslims got victory upon the Jews and the Idolaters, and Makkah was taken over. In addition, the Muslims spread over, not only the Arab but the world and the Jews were come out.
It has been explained also that these Hypocrites, whose Islam is only by their tongue, not accepted by their heart, neither they believe in Allaah Almighty, nor have any hope about the prosperous of the Muslims, their hearts have a disease, the same disease, in which the Jews, the Christians and the Infidels are entangled i.e. selfishness, thought about only one’s own gain and trust in apparent worldly power. Therefore, they are unable to see any form of their safety and escape except taking the Jews for friends and say them clearly, “We see that the Muslims will finish very soon. What authority they have that they succeed against such powerful, honorable and wealthy people as the Infidels of Makkah, the Jews and the Christians? If not today then tomorrow, they would have to suffer this vigorous calamity. If we remained united with them, then it is open that we would also be treated badly with them. So they chose this form of deeds that apparently they joined the Muslims and assured them by swearing, ‘where shall we go after leaving you? We are with you whole heartily’”. They (the Hypocrites) assure the Muslims but their hearts believe that a misfortune is waiting for the Muslims. Only those people will be saved from it, who would have friendly relationship with the Jews.
Afterwards, their all thoughts were proved as false. The Infidels and the Jews were defeated by the Muslims and there was no any way for them to run away. Their all plans and thoughts failed and they could get nothing except loss and repentance.
