    Commentary

The people cried after hearing strict and straight-forward Sayings of Abraham (peace be upon him): This fearless and brave Man committed a great mistake against us. Hither he broke our gods into pieces and thither he vexed us by his fearless cursing and taunting. Speak now! Have you to do something or otherwise? It would not be enough to remain silent in this matter. Help your innocent gods and burn this arrogant (God forbid) Person in the fire, so that eyes of the people are opened and they may know that how we punish severely to those who disgrace our favorite gods.

Therefore, they collected the stock of fire-wood and inflamed it. When the fire became very furious, then they threw Abraham (peace be upon him) into its flames and satisfied their revenge.

Allaah Almighty helped His sincere servant Abraham (peace be upon him). He commanded to the fire: Be cool as much that No harm should touch Abraham (peace be upon him) and he should remain in peace during his stay into you.

They were longing that Abraham (peace be upon him) should suffer pain. Allaah Almighty commands that He disgraced them and they were distressed. The Truth and the Right prospered, but the idolaters remained greater losers.
