A lesson of admonition - Quran Chapter 12 – 15 (Pt-12, Stg-3) (L-1482) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 12  15 (Pt-12, Stg-3) (L-1482) - درس قرآن

A lesson of admonition

Surah Yuusuf (Joseph) - 12

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast.)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful.)

When Chapter Joseph (Surah Yuusuf) was revealed upon the Messenger of God Almighty, Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) in Makkah, at that time, He (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) had been surrounded by the enemies from all around and there was no hope but causing trouble from them. They left no stone unturned in annoying, even they established a conference collectively that “which form would be suitable for getting rid of Him?” (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him). At last, they decided that He (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) should be put to death.

It was the same decision which, in the earlier times, was made by the brothers altogether about Joseph (peace be upon him). From that story, a picture of patience and endurance by Joseph (peace be upon him) was required to be drawn before the last Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) on one side, so that His heart may be satisfied and it may be known that sometimes; own brothers become enemies due to heartily feelings and personal motives, and they get ready to misbehave with own brother.

Brothers of Joseph (peace be upon him) tyrannized Him and put an end to oppression, and at last placed Him in the depth of pit. He (peace be upon him) tolerated their tyrannies with patience. Eventually, His brothers had been put down and He (peace be upon him) became their Chief. In addition, He was bestowed also with a ministry of Egypt. This story contains a warning too for such people who become enemies of their own brothers and relatives being entangled in passions.

They (the people of Makkah) should learn from this story that those people who maltreat like the brothers of Joseph (peace be upon him), are disgraced at the end. And that person; whom they not only wish to seize by oppression and tyranny, but are desirous to ruin him, he, resultantly, succeeds, and Allah Almighty bestows honor and dignity to him.

Making this Chapter a part of Holy Qur’an, it has been saved for ever, so that during every era, tyrant and oppressed (both) may learn from it, and they should not be ignorant from the consequence of oppression. The oppressor should stop oppressing, and the oppressed should have patience, should not lose spirit, and he should have trust that the tyrant will ultimately be put down. Allah Almighty will satisfy the oppressed.

Besides this common lesson, way of describing this story teaches us separately that narrative in detail about misbehavior of the brothers of Joseph (peace be upon him) can cause to weep even if a man has a stony heart, but Holy Qur’an described it only in hints. Actual purpose is that the tyrant should take a lesson of warning from this story and the oppressed should learn the endurance. Not it that by listening to this story, the people keep up weeping and mourning.
