Commentary

Dif-‘un – (warmth, heat), it aims that you get hair, wool and leather from the cattle for preparing warm clothing and other things.

Turiihuuna – (you bring them home in the evening), origin of this word is ‘iraahatun, which has been derived from ra-wa-ha. Rawaah means “to go after sunset”. ‘Iraahatun is its active verb, which means “to bring back in the evening”. It aims that after pecking and grazing the whole day out, you bring your cattle back at home in the evening.

Tasrahuun – (you take them out to pasture), its origin is sa-ra-ha. Sarah means “to take the cattle towards pasture”.

It is commanded that Creator of these cattle is Allah Almighty, Who gave them under your control. Now you prepare clothing from their hair, wool and leather etc. for saving yourselves from the cold weather, drink their milk, and from the milk you prepare butter, ghee and cheese etc. also. You use some of them for ploughing in the land. When in the morning you take them towards pasture for grazing, and after grazing all day long; you bring them back to home at the descent of the sun below the horizon, there is jollity and beauty, by which honor and dignity is conferred to you on account of number of cattle’s ownership. Out of those, you eat the meat of lawful (halaal) animals. Did you ever think that Who Bountiful God created these cattle for you, and gave you sense and power to reap advantage from them, it is incumbent to Know and be thankful to Him?
