Reality of those which are not God

Suratun-Nahl - (The Bee) - 16

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

وَٱلَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ لَا يَخْلُقُونَ شَيْـًٔا وَهُمْ يُخْلَقُونَ 20

  أَمْوَٰتٌ غَيْرُ أَحْيَآءٍ وَمَا يَشْعُرُونَ أَيَّانَ يُبْعَثُونَ 21 

20.  And those unto whom they call beside Allah created naught, but are themselves created. 21.  (They are) dead, not living. And they know not when they will be raised.

20.  Wallaziina  yad-‘uuna  min  duuNillaahi  laa  yakhlu-quuna  shay-‘anw-wa  hum  yukhla-quun. 21.  ‘Amwaatun  gayru  ‘ahyaaa’.  Wa  maa  yash-‘uruuna,  ‘ayyaana  yub-‘asuun. (Section – 2)

      

Commentary

The entire prosperities of the world, whether those are small or big, have been created by Allah Almighty and subjected for the mankind. Describing about their condition separately is a great thing, whereas if someone desires to count them, cannot reckon. Behold! Whether; He is Good Who is The Creator and The Sustainer, Who has not been created by anyone, or those which are good for nothing and self-fabricated worshipped, which cannot create even any straw of grass, but have been created by Allah Almighty. It is obvious that these both cannot be equal. Then what should you conclude from these all?

The same inference has been disclosed in this verse clearly. It is commanded: Does your sense work properly? These, whomsoever you call by quitting Allah Almighty, can do nothing. But these themselves are created. Even their existence is not of their own. What life can they give others? Those are dead, which do not have any understanding that when the Last Day will come. And when they and their worshippers will be produced before Allah Almighty? Can these senseless, helpless and lifeless idols be able that the respect should be given to them considering that those are worshipped; opposite to Glorious and Omnipotent Allah Almighty, and bow humbly before them and consider that those can supply the wants of mankind? No. Never.

The Creator, Merciful and Knower

Suratun-Nahl - (The Bee) - 16

أَفَمَن يَخْلُقُ كَمَن لَّا يَخْلُقُ أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ 17

  وَإِن تَعُدُّوا۟ نِعْمَةَ ٱللَّهِ لَا تُحْصُوهَآ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَغَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ 18

 وَٱللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ مَاتُسِرُّونَ وَمَا تُعْلِنُونَ 19 

17.  Is He then Who createth as him who createth not? Will ye not then remember? 18.  And if ye would count the favour of Allah ye cannot reckon it. Lo! Allah is indeed Forgiving, Merciful. 19.  And Allah knoweth that which ye keep hidden and that which ye proclaim.

17.  ‘Afa-many-yakhluqu  kamallaa  yakhluq.  ‘Afa-laa  tazakka-ruun. 18.  Wa  ‘in-  ta-‘udduu  ni’-ma-tAllaahi  laa  tuhsuuhaa.  ‘InnAllaaha  la-Gafuurur-Rahiim. 19.  WAllaahu  ya’-lamu  maa  tusirruuna  wa  maa  tu’-linuun.

      

Commentary

Laa  tuhsuu – (you cannot reckon), this word has been derived from ‘ih-saa-‘un, which has come out from hasaa. Hasaa means “very little pebbles and stones”. ‘Ih-saa-‘un means “to count or collect”. Actually this word is Laa  tuhsuuna. Last “na” has befallen due to use of the word ‘in, which is a conditional letter and have come in the beginning of this verse. It aims “you will not be able to reckon”.

It was commanded earlier that Allah Almighty created the heavens, the earth, caused to rain, produced various kinds of grains and fruits from the earth, but it is astonishing that the human being begins to adore the stone, the tree, the sun, the moon or any other unknown thing. And he associates such things with Allah Almighty. Can the Creator of the Worlds and the entire things be determined equal to that creature which is unable to create even a wing of the fly; or any atom of the dirt?

There are as much Bounties of Allah Almighty on the mankind that if he wishes to count them, cannot reckon all of them. Then how will he give thanks? Allah Almighty Forgives errors and mistakes because He is Merciful, otherwise living of any such wrongdoer would not be possible. O people! Remember it that nothing of you is hidden from your Creator. You cannot be saved from torment if you are His disobedient. And if you will obey His commandments, you cannot be deprived of its retribution.

Suratun-Nahl - (The Bee) - 16

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.

وَأَلْقَىٰ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ رَوَٰسِىَ أَن تَمِيدَ بِكُمْ وَأَنْهَٰرًا وَسُبُلًا لَّعَلَّكُمْ تَهْتَدُونَ 15

  وَعَلَٰمَٰتٍ وَبِٱلنَّجْمِ هُمْيَهْتَدُونَ 16 

15.  And He hath cast into the earth firm hills that it quake not with you, and streams and roads that ye may find a way- 16.  And landmarks (too). And by the star they find a way.

15.  Wa  ‘alqaa  fil-‘arzi  rawaasiya  ‘an-  tamiida  bikum  wa  ‘an-haaranw-wa  subulal-la-‘allakum  tahtaduun. 16.  Wa  ‘alaamaat.  Wa  binnajmi  hum  yahtaduun.

      

Commentary

Rawaasiya – (fixed), it is plural of raasiyatun. This word has passed in the Chapter before the current. It aims - firm hills and mountains.

Tamiida – (it may quake, bend, tremble), this word has come out from maydun, which means “to bow towards any side”.

It is commanded: Do you know that which you see high mountains on the earth, Who created them and why? Listen! Allah Almighty created these heavy, firm and high hills and mountains. These are a source of keeping the earth firm and constant, so that lest the water soften it and on any day, the land sit down like a bubble along with you. Stony, hard and heavy particles of the hills do not dissolve in water and bear heavy blows of the sea. Moreover, snow falls and assembles on the peaks of the mountains, and it flows from height to downward after melting. And it irrigates dry lands after becoming rivers and canals. Besides this, passes, valleys and paths have been made into the mountains, so that these may not hinder the human beings from meeting with one another. These hills, springs and passes etc. are also useful as signs to establish different things and places of station.

Like this, stars are also very useful at night for knowing direction and correct way. Allah Almighty created these entire things for the help of mankind.

وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِى سَخَّرَ ٱلْبَحْرَ لِتَأْكُلُوا۟ مِنْهُ لَحْمًا طَرِيًّا وَتَسْتَخْرِجُوا۟ مِنْهُ حِلْيَةً تَلْبَسُونَهَا وَتَرَى ٱلْفُلْكَ مَوَاخِرَ فِيهِوَلِتَبْتَغُوا۟ مِن فَضْلِهِۦ وَلَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ 14 

14.  And He it is Who hath subdued the sea that ye eat fresh meat from thence, and bring forth from thence ornaments which ye wear. And thou seest the ships ploughing it that ye (mankind) may seek of His Bounty and that haply ye may give thanks.

14.  Wa  Huwal-lazii  sakh-kharal-bahra  lita’-kuluu  minhu  lahman-tariyyanw-wa  tastakh-rijuu  minhu  hilyatan  talbasuunahaa.  Wa  taral-fulka  mawaa-khira  fiihi  wa  li-tabtaguu  min-  fazliHii  wa  la-‘allakum  tash-kuruun.

      

Commentary

Tariyyun – (fresh), it is an adjective from the word tur-wun. Tur-wun means freshness, along with which; it should be agreeable to the taste and mind. A word taraa-wat is also from the same origin, which means humidity, freshness.

Mawaa-khira – (the things which plough), this word is plural of maakhiratun, which has been derived from makhrun. Makhrun means “to proceed forth by cutting open. The ship and the boats run forth by rending the water.

From the seas and the rivers, human beings catch fresh palatable fish and eat with very fondness. Secondly pearls, corals and shells can be found from them, which are used as ornaments. A problem had been risen by rivers and seas that dry parts of the earth had been separated from one another. It was impossible for the people of one part of the land to meet the people living in other parts. But Allah Almighty, Who is Merciful and Omnipotent, gave sense to the mankind that he should prepare ships and boats, so that those may carry the people of one bank by ploughing water, unto the people living on the other bank of the river/sea. Mankind should give thanks to Allah Almighty due to these Bounties.

وَسَخَّرَ لَكُمُ ٱلَّيْلَ وَٱلنَّهَارَوَٱلشَّمْسَ وَٱلْقَمَرَ وَٱلنُّجُومُ مُسَخَّرَٰتٌۢ بِأَمْرِهِۦٓ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَٰتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ يَعْقِلُونَ 12

 وَمَا ذَرَأَ لَكُمْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ مُخْتَلِفًا أَلْوَٰنُهُۥٓ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَلَءَايَةً لِّقَوْمٍ يَذَّكَّرُونَ 13 

12.  And He hath constrained the night and the day and the sun and the moon to be of service unto you, and the stars are made subservient by His command. Lo! herein indeed are Portents for people who have sense- 13.  And whatsoever He hath created for you in the earth of diverse hues. Lo! therein is indeed a Portent for people who take heed.

12.  Wa  sakh-khara  lakumul-layla  wan-nahaara,  wash-shamsa  wal-qamar.  Wan-nujuumu  musakh-kharaatum-  bi-‘amriH.  ‘Inna  fii zaalika  la-‘Aayaatil-li-qaw-minyya’-qiluun. 13.  Wa  maa  zara-‘a  lakum  fil-‘arzi  much-talifan  ‘alwaanuh.  ‘Inna  fii  zaalika  la-‘Aayaatal-liqaw-miny-yazzakka-ruun.

      

Commentary

Sakh-khara – (constrained), it is a past tense from the word taskhiir, (to constrain as a rule).

Zara-‘a – (created), it is also a past tense from the word zar-‘un, which means “to create” and in addition, it is used “for spreading” also.

Appearance of the day and the night, the sun and the moon and the stars regularly at their proper time; is by the Command and Plan of Allah Almighty. Wise people draw by observing these entire things and their arrangements that this claim of Holy Qur’aan is hundred per cent correct that these have been created by Allah Almighty.

Besides these all things, He has created various kinds of things which are of diverse hues, so that; you should know Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful, the Omnipotent and the Wise. Those who will reflect, certainly they will apprehend their Lord.

هُوَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنزَلَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءً لَّكُم مِّنْهُ شَرَابٌ وَمِنْهُ شَجَرٌ فِيهِ تُسِيمُونَ 10

 يُنۢبِتُ لَكُم بِهِ ٱلزَّرْعَ وَٱلزَّيْتُونَ وَٱلنَّخِيلَ وَٱلْأَعْنَٰبَ وَمِن كُلِّ ٱلثَّمَرَٰتِ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَةً لِّقَوْمٍ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ 11 

10.  He it is Who sendeth down water from the sky, whence ye have drink, and whence are trees on which ye send your beasts to pasture. 11.  Therewith He causeth crops to grow for you, and the olive and the date-palm and grapes and all kinds of fruit. Lo! herein is indeed a Portent for people who reflect.

10.  Huwal-laziii  ‘anzala  minas-samaaa-‘i  maaa-‘al-lakum-minhu  sharaa-bunw-wa  minhu  shajarun-  fiihi  tusiimuun. 11.  Yumbitu  lakum-  bihiz-zar-‘a  waz-zaytuuna  wan-nakhiila  wal-‘a’-naaba  wa  min  kullis-samaraat.  ‘Inna  fii  zaalika  la-‘Aayaatal-li-qawminy-yatafakkaruun.

      

Commentary

Sharaa-bun – (every that thing which is drinkable), Sharaab means “to drink” as ta-‘aam means every eatable thing.

Tusiimuuna – {you send (your beasts) to pasture}, this word has been derived from ‘isaamatun, origin of which is sawam. Sawam means “to graze, to feed”. ‘isaamatun is its active verb which means “to pasture”.

It has been described in this verse: Listen! It is Allah Almighty Who caused to rain from the sky, by which the land prospered and you obtained water for drinking. In the meadow, you release your animals for grazing and pecking, fill your bellies with grains, fruits and vegetables. Did you ever think that Who arranged this all? Those who reflect; know Allah Almighty by meditating into these arrangements, and they thank Him Who is the Greatest Benefactor and Who created these entire things for the mankind. And He (Allah Almighty) gave these things in the control of human being.

Suratun-Nahl - (The Bee) - 16

وَعَلَى ٱللَّهِقَصْدُ ٱلسَّبِيلِ وَمِنْهَا جَآئِرٌ وَلَوْ شَآءَ لَهَدَىٰكُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ 9 

9.  And Allah’s is the direction of the Way, and some (roads) go not straight. And had He willed He would have led you all aright.

9.  Wa  ‘alAllaahi  qasdus-Sabiili  wa  minhaa  jaaa-‘ir.  Wa  law  shaaa-‘a  lahadaakum  ‘ajma-‘iin. (Section 1)

      

Commentary

Qasdu – (the straight), origin of this word is qasad, which means “the direction and the straight (both)”. Here it aims – the straight. Another word for it is mustaqiim, which also means straight. Qasdus-Sabiili means Siraatul Mustaqiim (the Straight Path).

Minhaa  jaaa-‘irun – {some of them (roads) go not straight, curved paths}.

In this verse, it has been cautioned to the human being that the people who apprehend correctly, for them, a straight path have been opened unto cognizance of Allah Almighty with this graciousness. The person who will choose this path and by reaping advantage from these favors; he will be thankful to The Real Benefactor, he will reach directly up to Allah Almighty. But that individual who was careless from The Real Benefactor due to being engaged in worldly pleasures, he went astray.

It is commanded that the person who will drive the benefit from the favors of Allah Almighty and believe in Him and grip up his loins for His gratefulness, he will be on the Straight Path. But some curved and crooked footpaths and pathways have come out also from this Straight Path, which eventually lead unto any forest of thorny bushes and trees. And there, mankind misses the right path.

If Allah Almighty had willed, He would have led the entire human beings towards the Straight Path. But this world has been created on such Established Order that there are both kinds of paths in it – straight and curved. Signs of the both have been explained and it has been informed to the mankind that he should use own sense to know about the Straight Path by means of these signs and go straight way.
