Commentary
Khatbun – (plan), this word has already passed. It
means “state, scheme, thought, and work etc. according to circumstances.
Saw-walat – (induced, commended, advised), it is
past tense from the word “tas-wiil”, which means “to induce, to allure,
to cause to tend”. This word has passed in Surah Joseph (Chapter 12).
When Aaron (peace be upon him) explained before Moses (peace be
upon him) about his problem, he released him and turned unto Saamirii.
Moses (peace be upon him) asked from him: Why did you commit such unlawful act?
And what was in your mind that you misled them? Saamirii said: When a
path appeared for us in the Sea and we began to travel on that path, at that
time I saw “A Man” in front of me who was of wonderful pomp. I understood that
he was an Angel; sent by Allaah Almighty; for our help. I picked silently
a handful clay from beneath his feet. Then I did put that clay in the gold
after melting it and made a calf from it. Then I observed that a sound began to
come out from the calf like cattle having life.
After that, it came in my mind that the fabricated calf was
worthy of worship, so I ordered the people: Worship it!
This statement of Saamirii was his acceptance that only
he was responsible of spreading polytheism entirely. Verily those people are
very dangerous who want to spread their false thoughts after writing in the
religious teachings and cause to admit from the people.
