Commentary
‘A’-jala – (it made hasten), it is past tense from
the word ‘i’-jaalun, which has been derived from ‘a-ja-la. ‘Ujlatun
means “hurry, quickness, haste”. ‘I’-jaalun means “to prepare for making
haste”.
It is commanded: I am Great Forgiving also if the guilty is
ashamed due to his sins, he repents, accepts with true heart that I am his Lord,
does good acts and then stands firm on the same Straight Path, then I forgive
his errors. There is no deficiency in My Mercy.
After that, the description is about fulfillment of that covenant
which Allah Almighty made with Moses (peace be upon him) and by means of him,
with the Children of Israel, that they should come upon the Mount Toor. Allaah
Almighty will give the Scripture Torah for their guidance. According to that
promise, Moses (peace be upon him) along with the Children of Israel flew unto the
Mount Toor. Due to excessive longing, Moses (peace be upon him) left
behind his companions and reached the Mount Toor quickly.
It was commanded: Why did you make more haste that you did leave
your companions behind? He requested: I came forth immediately for acquiring
Your pleasure. Those people are upon my track and are not far from me.
Then it was commanded to Moses (peace be upon him): Come upon
this Mount to engage yourself in worship for forty days.
