Such is Jesus, son of Mary; (this is) a Statement of the Truth concerning
which they doubt.
35.
It befitteth not (the Majesty of) Allah that He should take unto
Himself a son. Glory be to Him! When
He decreeth a thing, He saith unto it only: Be! and it is.

Commentary
Qawlal-Haqqi – (a
Statement of the Truth). the word “qawla” has come out from the word “qaala”. It indicates unto the Word of God Almighty. It aims that Allah
Almighty has disclosed the Truth.
After describing the story of the
birth of Jesus (peace be upon him) in detail, it is commanded: Such is Jesus,
son of Mary (peace be upon them), about whom, We have stated the Truth. The
Christians say that he is son of God. Someone tried to prove that Mary (peace
be upon her) was married with Joseph Najjaar (a carpenter). The simple matter is only that she
was never married to any person and nor was she unchaste (Let us flee to God). It
seems clearly from that which Mary (peace be upon her) Herself announced, and that
whatsoever Jesus (peace be upon him) said about himself, that he was born
without father. And there was any wisdom of God Almighty hidden in it that He
produced Jesus without the source of father as a miracle. Jesus himself (peace
be upon him) is chaste as well as his mother also is quite free from the charge
of unchaste. He says: Allah Almighty has appointed me a Prophet (peace be upon
him).
After that, it is commanded: Allah
Almighty is not needy of any son. He does not require any helper in His work. When
He intends to do any work, He commands directly for it and says: Be! As soon as
He says Be, that happens. Though apparently it may take some time, but the
promise cannot be hindered.
