قَالَ كَذَٰلِكِ قَالَ رَبُّكِ هُوَ عَلَىَّ هَيِّنٌ وَلِنَجْعَلَهُۥٓ ءَايَةً لِّلنَّاسِ وَرَحْمَةً مِّنَّاوَكَانَ أَمْرًا مَّقْضِيًّا 21

He said: So (it will be). Thy Lord saith: It is easy for Me. And (it
will be) that We may make of him a portent for mankind and a Mercy from Us,
and it is a thing ordained.

Then she conceived him, and she withdrew with him to a far place.

Commentary
Hamalat – (admitted
into the womb, conceived, became pregnant), it is past tense from the word hamal,
which means “to lift up a burden”. Haamilah means “the pregnant”.
Qasiyyun – (far, at
distance), it is an adjective from the word qa-sa-wa. Qasaww means
“to be removed or dispelled”.
As a reply to surprise of Mary (peace
be upon her), the Angel (peace be upon him) answered briefly and said: The
works of Allah Almighty are not bound of apparent reasons. Actual reason is His
intention. It has been planned that this child will be born from the woman only
and there is expedience in it, which is that the people may estimate Our
Omnipotence correctly after looking the birth of a child without father. And then
that child should be proved himself a mercy for the world from Our side.
In short, the Angel (peace be upon
him) blew the soul of the boy into Mary (peace be upon her) by the Command of
Allah Almighty. She (peace be upon her) became pregnant. When the time of child’s
birth reached close, then expediently she (peace be upon her) went at a distant
place being saved from the eyes of the people. According to the commentators, the
name of that place was Bethlehem (Baytil-lehem), which was at a distance
of eight miles from “the Temple of Jerusalem” where did she use to live.
It is obvious clearly from this verse
and besides it; from other verses that becoming pregnant of Mary (peace be upon
her) was as a miracle and supernatural matter. The people who pursue to prove without
reasoning that she (peace be upon her) was married with a man, they could not
guess the Power of Allah Almighty correctly and explain about the verse
unjustly.
