Commentary
‘Umyun, bukmun and summon – these three
word, which have passed in Surah Baqarah (Chapter 2) are plural. Their
singulars are ‘a’-maa (blind), ‘abkamu (dumb) and ‘asammu (deaf)
respectively.
Khabat – (becoming less), origin of this
word is khabawa, which means “to be extinguished, to be calm, to go
down”.
Sa-‘iiraa – (Fire, Hell-fire, bursting
forth into flame, sharpness),
It is a famous similitude that love makes a mankind
blind, dumb and deaf. It is the reason that one individual likes a thing
whereas the other dislikes the same. If the sound of a radio attracts a person,
at the same time someone else says “Switch it Off, I have been disturbed”. Like
this, one person enjoys with obscene but the other avoids hearing it and
considers that it is immorality.
Found from it is that if any such standard is not
produced before the human being by which he may know the thoughts that “what is
right and what is wrong”, then his desires will ensnare his power and strength
in wicked deeds. Allah Almighty has appointed the Holy Qur’an as a
perfect source of causing to incline the mankind unto speaking the truth,
putting faith in the right; and examining own thoughts every time. The person
who will be careless from this side, his eyes, ears and tongue cannot work
correctly. He will remain astray in the world.
Although he will pass his worldly life by hook or
by crook, but after death; there will be no light but the Light of Holy Qur’an.
Therefore the person who kept it given up in the world, he will remain; there;
deprived of the light entirely. So he will be blind. Sounds of evil wishes of
the world will be echoing in his ears, because of which he will be deaf there;
from hearing the attractive voices of that place. Moreover, even his tongue
will speak nothing but some meaningless words. Abode of such people will be
Hell and they will suffer doom - equally and continuously for ever.
