Mankind does not learn

Surah Baniii ‘Israaa-‘iil (The Children of Israel) – 17

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

67b.  Then when He bringeth you safe to land, ye turn away. And man is ever thankless.

68.  Feel ye then secure that He will not cause a slope of the land to engulf you, or send a sand-storm upon you, and then ye will find that ye have no protector?
67b.  Falammaa  Naj-jaakum  ‘ilal-barri  ‘a’-raztum.  Wa  kaanal-‘insaanu  kafuuraa.

68.  ‘Afa-‘amintum  ‘any-Yakh-sifa  bikum  jaanibal-barri  ‘aw  yursila  ‘alaykum  haasiban-  summa  laa  tajiduu  lakum  wakiilaa.

Commentary

Yakh-sifa – (He will cause to engulf), origin of this word is khasafa, which means “to be absorbed in the land”. Yakh-sifa  bikum means “He will cause to engulf you”.

Haasiban – (wind which causes to rain pebbles and stones”. This word has been derived from hasab, which means
“pebbles, stones”.

Would that the mankind may judge the enmity of Satan and seek refuge in Allah Almighty to save himself from the Devil, but the condition of the mankind is astonishing that when stuck in the storm and believed that “now I shall live no more”, then he began to cry for God’s help. When Allah Almighty saved him from the disaster, caused to arrive at dry land safe and sound, and he got the sigh of satisfaction, then he forgot Allah Almighty. It is a great thanklessness. Accepted that there are many weaknesses in the human being and he forgets his those friends, at the time of ease, who helped him to set free from any great calamity at any time, but he should never forget Allah Almighty Who is the Greatest Protector as explained above, because the mankind is in His control and power every time and at every place. If He desire; He can cause a slope of the land to engulf the human being as a punishment of his thanklessness Or He can send any other disaster, for example, such sand-storm which may cause to rain pebbles and stones with as much pressure that he is beaten severely. Whether he tries to paw as a horse but cannot be saved. Whether he looks here and there, but cannot find any protector, and he feels that everywhere there is a stunning blow or shock only. The human being is unaware that how much great foe of him is Satan, because he shows apparently that he is best well-wisher and friend of the mankind. Would that the human beings had understood Satan and seek every time refuge in Allah Almighty from him.

Seeking God’s Bounty

Surah Baniii ‘Israaa-‘iil (The Children of Israel) – 17

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

66.  (O mankind), your Lord is He Who driveth for you the ship upon the sea that ye may seek of His Bounty. Lo! He is Ever-Merciful toward you.

67a.  And when harm toucheth you upon the sea, all those whom ye call on (for succour) fail save Him (alone).
66.  RabbukumUllazii  Yuzjii  lakumul-Fulka  fil-bahri  litabtaguu  min-  FazliH.  ‘InnaHuu  kaana  bikum  Rahiimaa.

67a.  Wa  ‘izaa  massa-kumuzzurru  fil-bahri  zalla  man-  tad-‘uuna  ‘illaaa  ‘iyyaaH.

Commentary

Yuzjii – (He drives). This word has come out from ‘izjaaa-‘un, which aims “moving, going forward”.

Fulka –(Ship), it is used as singular and plural (both).

In these verses, it is being informed to the human beings that the devilish forces are desirous to ruin them and Allah Almighty has given grace to the devilish forces that they can do their work, so that; which power has been given to the mankind, may be tested. But these devilish forces are never out of God’s control and sovereignty.

The people who will turn unto God Almighty, He will save them certainly from their destructive effects. You can guess about the Power of Allah Almighty from it that He saves you from great harms, and He drives for you ships and boats upon the seas and rivers. And He prevented those forces from your destruction which were desirous to ruin you. And you seek His Bounty and Generosity after riding and moving on boats and ships, and you succeed. Then why do you not get His support to save yourselves from Satan’s destructive forces?

You should learn from it that when you fall in dangerous storms of seas, at that time; you remember none except Allah Almighty. While the traps of Satan are more destructive than the storms of the sea, then why do you not incline unto Allah Almighty to save yourselves from them?

Commentary

Allah Almighty gave grace to Satan so that he may try to mislead human beings in the world. At the end, he and his followers will be thrown into the Hell. It was described to him: Only those people will be deceived by you who will not follow the way of that which will be explained by Our Messengers (peace be upon them). This is only one Path and those who will go straight on it, will succeed in the religion and in the world. Moreover, there is no hindrance for any mankind in this Path. This Path is open for that person who will use his sense.

Allah Almighty commanded: I shall continue sending My Messengers (peace be upon them) in the world from time to time, who will keep this Path cleaned from all kinds of rubbish and stuffs. And by sending My last Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) along with My last Scripture (holy Qur’an), I shall manifest the Signs of that Straight Path for always. And you will be able to deceive only such people who will not behold these Signs. Entire people will not be caught into your trap. There will be some such people of Mine who; by knowing Me; will obey My commandments wholeheartedly. You will have no power on them. They will recognize that you are a deceiver. Your entire promises are false. They will experience that your work is nothing but imposture. I shall correct their entire works and bestow them patience, firmness and fortitude.

At the end, it is commanded: My believers should understand that I am sufficient to make their entire works good. There is no need to go unto any other; leaving Me behind.

It is being commanded at first to the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) that He should have full trust in satisfied Promise of Allah Almighty. And He (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) showed to the entire world that “How much great fruit He found by acting fully upon the Commands of Allah Almighty”.

Today, the entire world has observed that no one from the human beings could get so much success in the world as it was in the luck of God’s last Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him). It will be misfortune of the mankind if he does not choose the Path; established by the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) and follows the disciples of the Devil.

Commentary

‘Astafziz– (Beguile!), it is a word of command from ‘Astafzaaz, which means “to beguile, to shake from a place, to drive off, to kidnap. Origin of this word is fazaz, which means “lightness vanity”.

Satan asked from Allah Almighty for respite so that he may take revenge of this humiliation and disgrace from the children of Adam (peace be upon him) till the Day of Judgment, which he got because of Him (peace be upon him).

It was commanded: OK! You are given grace. Go and do whatsoever you can. We have prepared the Hell for you and those who will obey you. That is the complete punishment of your arrogance. Collect all of those who run towards you at your voice, attack them with your horsemen and your forces on foot, and beguile them that “they should acquire wealth and children unlawfully, so that there should be partnership of yours into them also, and deceive them that “lawful and forbidden” is nothing, so they should just enjoy as they wish. They should collect the wealth as they want and fulfill their worldly desires as they can, so that the luxuries of life may be obtained fully. Sin, punishment, virtue and reward are nothing”. Satan says: I promise you that I am your protecting friend. At the time of celebrating merriments in the world, no trouble can touch you. But this promise of Satan is just deceiving, seducing and a lie.

61.  And when We said unto the angels: Fall down prostrate before Adam and they fell prostrate all save Iblis. He said: Shall I fall prostrate before that which Thou hast created of clay?

62.  He said: Seest Thou this (creature) whom Thou hast honoured above me, if Thou give me grace until the Day of resurrection I verily will seize his seed, save but a few.
61.  Wa  ‘iz  qulNaa  lil-malaaa-‘ikatis-juduu  li-‘Aadama  fasa-jaduuu  ‘illaaa  ‘Ibliis.  Qaala  ‘a-‘asjudu  li-man  khalaqTa  tii-naa.

Commentary

‘Ara-‘ayTaka – (Did you see yourself?), this word has passed in Suratul-‘An’aam. In Arabic language, it is used to draw attention of the person addressed towards any particular matter.

‘AkhkharTani – (give me grace), the word ‘akhkharta is past tense from the word taakhiir. Actually this word was ‘akhkharTanii. Last “i” has been dropped for the purpose of reduction. “ii” means “to me”.

-‘Ahtaniku – (I shall seize, I shall bring into my grasp). This word has been derived from hanak, which means “the jaw or the portion of the face from the corners of the mouth to the jaw”. ‘Ahtanaak means “to tie a rope or iron chain in the lower jaw, by which the animal is controlled. It aims “I shall control them in such a way that they will do as I shall command”.

Satan desires to keep the mankind under his control and considers that he is a contemptible thing and tries to keep him involved in evil deeds. The human beings should bear every time in mind the incident when the angels (peace be upon them) fell down prostrate on the Command of Allah Almighty before Adam (peace be upon him) but Satan refused from falling prostrate before him by telling the reason that “I am very higher and superior to mankind”.

Because of disobedience; he was accursed by Allah Almighty, and he made up his mind to ruin the descendents of Adam by bringing them into his grasp, so that he may satisfy his heart by thinking that “Really I am superior to mankind”.

Quran Chapter 17  60 (Pt-15, Stg-4) (L-1822) درس قرآن

An ordeal of mankind – (2)

Surah Baniii ‘Israaa-‘iil (The Children of Israel) – 17

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

It is commanded in this verse: You should remove from your heart the fear of infidels and deniers entirely. They all are under the control of Our Omnipotence. We have encompassed the entire human beings from all around. They can’t step out from our Boundary. If We desire, We can destroy all of them by giving them punishment of disobedience. But We have created the world just as an ordeal for mankind and by means of this test; We wish to separate the chosen good people from the wicked.

That is why; We have manifested such signs so that the intellectual people may recognize Our Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) and Our Scripture (Holy Qur’an) by beholding them. Although, the sense of the people which has been dazzled by blazed things of the world, so they will remain deprived of this recognition. The Ascension of the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) is sufficient to prove his apostleship. Wise people can recognize by observing His so much strong Belief and zealous intension that; without it that; a man is directed to believe in the things after looking them, even then so perfect Belief cannot be acquired by him as it is of the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him).

This maturity of faith and determination is proof of it that He (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) went for Ascension. It is the reason that the wise people testify the Ascension unhesitatingly and get success in the ordeal of their wits. Then while they believed in the Messenger-hood of Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) then there is no delay in admitting that whatsoever was explained in the words of Holy Qur’an; the same things were shown with open eyes to Holy Prophet (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) in the form of incidents at the Night of Ascension. The commands which exist in Holy Qur’an are true. If the men think being empty-minded and get advice from the qualified people then every matter can be understood easily.

When a reliable Person, whose perfection is obvious from his qualities, has been saying that he has seen those things with open eyes which have been mentioned in Holy Qur’an, then we have no suitable reason for admitting not his saying. It is the simple matter that the apparent and hidden excellences of Holy Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) which we have been watching with eyes and finding practically; are proof of His Ascension because these perfections cannot be gotten without it.

After this, the heart accepts immediately that He (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) is Prophet of Allah Almighty, Holy Qur’an is the Book of Allah Almighty and everything written in it and he has been saying; is absolutely True. But hard-hearted people don’t fear by frightening them and due to hard-heartedness, this act of frightening increases their arrogance more which has already been increased.

60.  And (it was a warning) when We told thee: Lo! Thy Lord encompasseth mankind. And We appointed the vision which We showed thee as an ordeal for mankind, and (likewise) the Accursed Tree in the Qur’an. And We warn them, but it increaseth them in naught save gross impiety.
60.  Wa  ‘iz  qulNaa  laka  ‘inna  Rabbaka  ‘ahaata  bin-naas.  Wa  maa  ja-‘alNar-Ru’-yallatiii  ‘aray-Naaka  ‘illaa  fitnatal-linnaasi  wash-Shajaratal-Mal-‘uunata  fil-Qur’aan.  Wa  Nukhawwi-fuhum-  famaa  yaziiduhum,  ‘illaa  tugyaanan-  kabiiraa.  (Section 6)

Commentary

Ru’-yaa – (vision, scene), origin of this word is ra’-yun, which means “to see”. Ru’-yaa is the thing which is seen. It aims “the sight, view, show, panorama etc. which the Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) saw in the Night of Ascension.”

‘Ash-Shajaratal-Mal-‘uunata – (the Accursed Tree), the word mal-‘uunatan has been derived from la-‘ana, which means “cursing, imprecating, distance from the mercy of Allah Almighty”. Mal-‘uun is the thing which is detestable, hateful in all respect, every such thing, about which, Allah Almighty disclosed His displeasure. It refers to the Tree of Zaqum, which has been mentioned in Suratus-Saaffaat and Surah Dukhaan. This thorny tree has been grown in the Hell. Its form, shape and taste are very detestable and frightful.

The Infidels of Makkah did not believe in the Ascension of the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him), denied the Hell and its frightful things. Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) said to them: I am Messenger of Allah Almighty and I have been shown such things during the Ascension; which none of you have ever seen. Moreover, I have been bestowed with Holy Qur’an, equal of which there is no other Scripture of the world. Disbelievers did not accept the Ascension and said: Your mind is unsound (God forbid) because of which you say such things. They joked of Holy Qur’an in these words “It describes that the Hell is a store of the Fire, even then there is a Tree in it also. It is strange, how any tree can be in the fire”? Likewise, the Ascension and the Tree of the Hell, both became means of increasing their gross impiety, which was a regretful matter.

Commentary

It is commanded: Say to them that We (Allah Almighty) have to keep up the world just for some more time in future. If according to your sayings; We sent any clear Sign and you denied it, then you would be ruined and no one of you would be able to get the chance of acquiring Guidance.

Behold! A living she-camel was given as a portent to Thamud for opening their eyes because of their perverseness. They were required to believe immediately and follow Our Prophet Saleh (peace be upon him), but they did not care and slaughtered the she-camel. Then it was the result that they were besieged by earthquake and terrible thunder, and they were removed from the face of the earth as they did never live in the world.

Usually such portents are quite open and there can be no chance of misunderstanding them. Therefore, if those are not admitted then coming of the doom becomes incumbent. It is a great dread that either you should accept or you will be off in worst condition without any further delay.

Therefore, We have stopped sending unusual portents, so that the destruction of the world is suspended for some duration, and the people who have to come on the right path, may come. Even then, sending the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) and the Scripture (Holy Qur’an); itself, there are sufficient signs for the wise people. It is easy for them to know about the right path by meditating into them. However, thinking does not become a habit with whom; they will reach the recompense for the evil they done.

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

58.  And there is not a township (or communities) but We shall destroy it ere the Day of Resurrection, or punish it with dire punishment. That is set forth in the Book (of Our Decrees).

Commentary

Mas-tuuran – (written, set forth), this word is a passive or past participle from satara. Satara means “to write”. Here it aims “it has been recorded in Lawhim-Mahfuuz (A Table on which the destinies of the world since its creation are written)”.

Holy Qur’an desires to cause to understand the mankind that the entire universe has been created according to a specific outline and thought plan. Everything has been placed in order at its proper place. This is not such outline and plan which may be removed, but it has been saved in written form in Lawhim-Mahfuuz (A Table on which the destinies of the world since its creation are written), that among the human beings; there will be all kinds of people – good and bad. Some of them will believe in Allah Almighty, but some will follow their own desires. These disobedient people will be punished because of their wicked deeds.

In this verse, about the End of every township in accordance with the Divine Law has been described, because it is impossible that no obstinate or slave of own wishes exists in any township. Therefore, certainly the evil days of such people will bloom sometime or other. Before the Day of Resurrection, righteous people will be finished by natural death; and only wicked people will be living. Out of them; whose wickedness and depravity of nature will be more than limit, they will be destroyed entirely. And those who will be less wicked and wretch than the above mentioned, they will be punished with dire punishment. At last, the entire living beings will expire and the ruin of the Hereafter will be started.

It has been described in this verse that This Law is determined and included in the creation of the world. The people should follow the Commands mentioned in Holy Qur’an to save themselves from the Doom.
