Commentary
Zal-kifl – (Dhu’l-Kifl, one who accepts
responsibility), he is one of the Prophets (peace be upon them) from the
Children of Israel. During early stage, he (peace be upon him) was a righteous
person who took in charge that he will obey the Commandments of Allaah Almighty.
On this he was appointed as a Prophet (peace be upon him).
‘As-Saalihiin – (Righteous people), this
word is plural of Saalih, which has been derived from the word salaha.
Salah and salaahiyyat means “harmony, concord of sounds,
agreement, sanctity”, that is to say; their nature was ready every time to do
good works.
Mugaaziban – (being enraged), it is the subject from
the word mugaazabatun, which has come out from gazab. Gazab
means “dissatisfaction, anger and fury etc.” Mugaazibun means “the
person who proclaims of his displeasure on any other’s ill-mannered work, and
is angry”.
It is commanded: Ishmael, Idris and Dhu’l-Kifl (peace
be upon them) were also among Our righteous slaves. They endured troubles in
Our obedience and had patience. We brought them in unto Our Mercy. These all
were such people whose nature used to accept good things immediately.
After that, there is mention of Dhu’n-Nuun, which is a
title of Prophet Jonah (peace be upon him). He was an obedient slave and worshipper
of Allaah Almighty. He prevented the people of his folk from
idol-worshipping but they did not admit. Therefore, he (peace be upon him) was
displeased and went off by saying: “During next three days; you will be
involved in difficulties”. He (peace be upon him) said this in anger. Then without
waiting for the Command of Allaah Almighty, he departed from the
township. It is commanded: he would have thought that he would go out of Our
Control.
