Noah (peace be upon him)

Chapter “The Prophets” – (Suratul – ‘Ambiyaaa’ - 21)

 ‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim. 
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast.)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.)

وَنُوحًا إِذْ نَادَىٰمِن قَبْلُ فَٱسْتَجَبْنَا لَهُۥ فَنَجَّيْنَٰهُ وَأَهْلَهُۥ مِنَ ٱلْكَرْبِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ 76

 وَنَصَرْنَٰهُ مِنَ ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا۟بِـَٔايَٰتِنَآ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ قَوْمَ سَوْءٍ فَأَغْرَقْنَٰهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ 77  

76.  And Noah, when he cried of old, We heard his prayer and saved him and his household from the great affliction. 77.  And delivered him from the people who denied Our Revelations. Lo! They were folk of evil, therefore did We drown them all.

76.  Wa  Nuuhan  ‘iz  naadaa  min-  qablu  fastajabNaa  lahuu  fa-najjay-Naahu  wa  ‘ahlahuu  minal-  karbil-‘aziim. 77.  Wa  nasarNaahu  minal-qawmil-laziina  kazzabuu  bi- ‘AayaatiNaa.  ‘Innahum  kaanuu  qawma  saw- ‘in-  fa-‘agraqNaahum  ‘ajma-‘iin.

    Commentary

It is being described in these verses that We sent Our Messengers (peace be upon them) from time to time for warning to the refractory people. They (peace be upon them) caused to understand them verbally as well as practically too that the mankind should worship Allaah Almighty only, bow before Him alone and follow only His Commandments. When their folks did not obey their sayings then We saved them (peace be upon them), but ruined the rebellious people.

When the narration of Abraham and Lot (peace be upon them) was over, then now it is being indicated unto the story of Noah (peace be upon him) that before them, Noah (peace be upon him) also cried out for Our help due to falling short before the refractory people of his folk. We accepted his prayer, saved him and his close relatives from the great afflictions, because they were being tyrannized severely by the people of their folk. The people of their folk denied Our clear Revelations and they continued committing the evil deeds boldly. At last a heaviest water-storm came and they all were drowned in it. Prophet Noah (peace be upon him) and his companions went on board a boat and escaped.
