The perversity

Chapter “The Prophets” – (Suratul – ‘Ambiyaaa’ - 21)

 ‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast.)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.)

65.  And they were utterly confounded, and they said: Well thou knowest that these speak not.

66.  He said: Worship ye then instead of Allah that which cannot profit you at all, nor harm you?

67.  Fie on you and all that ye worship instead of Allah! Have ye then no sense?
65.  Summa  nukisuu  ‘alaa  ru-‘uusihim.  Laqad  ‘alimta  maa  haaa-‘ulaaa-‘i  yantiquun.

66.  Qaala  ‘afa-ta’-buduuna  min-  duuNillaahi  maa  laa  yanfa-‘ukum  shay-‘anw-wa  laa  yazur-rukum.

67.  ‘Uffil-lakum  wa  limaa  ta’-buduuna  min-  duuNillaah.  ‘Afalaa  ta’-qiluun.

    Commentary

Nukisuu – (they were confounded), this word is in past tense from naksun, which means “to upset, to change the upside down”. It aims “they bent their heads due to suffering shame”.

‘Uffin – (Fie), the word ‘uff is used in Arabic language for an exclamation denoting contempt or dislike.

When they thought, they were abashed and downcast. Due to bashfulness they could not gaze. Then they said: While you know that the stones do not speak, then why do you say to us that we should ask from them? Messenger Abraham (peace be upon him) said: I know that the stones cannot speak, but I wish to manifest the Truth upon you also that you have been going to commit stupidity intentionally that you bow your heads before these deaf and dumb, lifeless and helpless idols, and you worship them. Fie on you and your these gods! You know that these are stones; even then you have lost your wits that you began to adore such things which neither can profit and nor harm you. The mankind should use his sense. Are you mankind or beasts?
