He will gather them all together, He will say unto the angels: Did these
worship you?
41. They will say: Be
Thou glorified. Thou (Alone) art our Guardian, not them! Nay, but they
worshipped the Jinn; most of them were believers in them.

Commentary
The Angels (peace be upon them) are such pure Spirits; to whom
transparent bright (Nooraanii) bodies have been given. They perform
every work by the Command of Allaah Almighty and are helpful in the
betterment of the mankind. Besides them, there are some evil spirits; to whom
light blazed (Naarii) bodies have been provided. They try to ruin the
mankind. They are from the creature of the Jinn. And the most wicked spirit
from them is Satan.
Naturally the mankind is aware of their existence. The nature of
the mankind desires that he should incline only to Allaah Almighty, so
that He guard him and save from the deceit of Satan. As soon as he becomes
careless from Allaah Almighty, Satan succeeds in deceiving the mankind. He
misled the human beings that the Angels (peace be upon them) were daughters of Allaah
Almighty so they should adore the Angels to please Him. They fabricated their
idols and began to adore them. In this verse, it has been warned: You should
not consider that We do not know your such wrong act.
It is commanded: Allaah Almighty will ask from the Angels
on the Day of Resurrection: Did you say to these disbelievers that they should
adore you? Had you become their adored? The Angels (peace be upon them) will
request: O Allaah, Free from all defects and Our Exalted Lord! We have
no regard for them. We obey only Your Command. The actual matter is that they
were worshippers of Satan. He used to excite them for our adoration and for drawing
them back from You. Sometimes they used to make idols of Your righteous slaves
and adore them, or save them; they used to bow before other apparent things and
have faith in them that those were suppliers of their any want. And most of
them were such people who believed that those were useful for them in all
matters. They did not use to worship us; but Satan used to cause to adore
himself from them in our names.
