(We gave) the wind, whereof the morning course was a month’s journey and the
evening course a month’s journey, and We caused the fount of copper to gush

Commentary
Guduwwun – (forenoon journey), Ra-waahun – (afternoon
journey), it aims that the wind used to cross over one month’s journey during
half a day.
‘AsalNaa – (We caused to gush forth, We made flow),
it is in past tense from the word ‘isaalatun, which has come out from
the word siil. Siil means “to flow”. ‘isaalatun means “to
cause to flow”.
Qitrun – (copper), one more word is used for the same which is nuhaas.
Allaah Almighty had commanded to the wind that it should carry away
the Throne of Prophet Solomon (peace be upon him) wherever he says. Therefore,
it used to carry away his Throne at the journey of one month’s distance in the
morning and carry back again in the evening, that is to say, it used to travel
so much in a day which ordinarily can be travelled in two months.
Moreover, Allaah Almighty made
flow for him a spring of liquid copper, and among the jinn were those who used
to work for him like coolies and laborers. And it all was by the permission of
his Lord (Allaah Almighty). He had said to the group of the jinn: We
will make him taste of the punishment of the Blaze who among you will disobey
Our Order, that is to say, will shirk from working for Solomon (peace be
upon him).
