Commentary
‘Aanaaa-‘un – (times), this word is plural of ‘anaya,
which means “time, moment, hour etc”.
‘Atraafun- nahaari – the aim from this word is “the
two ends of the day”, because at those times, last end of the first part of the
day, which is called “gadaatun {A.M. i.e. ante-meridium (before
noon)}, and first end of the last part of the day, which is called “’ashiy-yun”
{P.M. i.e. post-meridium (afternoon)}, meet with each other. After the
time when sun begins to decline, the time of Zuhr Prayer begins.
It was found from the previous verse that “the judgment of the
deeds is inevitable”. Good or bad result has been clung with every work which
appears immediately after committing the work. But in the world, coming of full
result out immediately has been stopped, and a Day has been fixed for this
purpose (the Day of Resurrection). On that Day, full reward or punishment of every
deed will be given.
After that, it is commanded: The people who do not accept this
Rule, they will say such words which will be grievous for you. Let them say! That
will happen which We desire. Bear with what they say and celebrate the Praise
of your Lord at fixed times, that is to say; (a) Fajr Prayer before rising
of the sun, (b) Zuhr Prayer after declining of the sun, (c) ‘Asr
Prayer before setting of the sun, (d) Magrib Prayer after setting of the
sun and (e) ‘Ishaa’ Prayer at night hours! And you should try to produce
excellences into yourself. Result of passing the worldly life in like manner
will be pleasure for always.
