Commentary
The Angels (peace be upon them) said to Abraham (peace be upon him): We will surely guide to Lot (peace be upon him) to save himself and his family, but his wife will be of those who
remain behind along with her folk. When the Angels said that they will destroy
the township, Prophet Abraham (peace be upon him) feared that what will happen with Lot (peace
be upon him). Then Angels satisfied him (peace be upon them) that not only Lot
but entire members of his family will be directed to leave the township and
proceed to any other place safe and sound. But the wife of Lot (peace be upon
him) will stay behind and she will be destroyed along with her folk.
After saying this to Abraham (peace be upon him), the Angels (peace be
upon them) set on and reached to meet Lot (peace be upon him). They said: Today
we are your guests.
Lot (peace be upon him) was aware of wrong deeds of the people of own
folk that they used to trouble particularly them who used to come in the
township from out townships. So he (peace be upon him) was confused very much
and instead of being pleased on arrival of the guests, as usually the hosts;
particularly the Prophets (peace be upon them) and slaves of Allaah
Almighty are pleased, was on the contrary distressed for them. He (peace be
upon him) began to think: How can I protect these gentlemen from the wicked
persons of my folk? When the Angels (peace be upon them) saw him discomfort and
terrified, they said: You should neither fear and nor grieve.
