Commentary

‘Attaabi-‘iina – (male attendants, followers), this word is plural of taabi’. Here, the aim from the word taabi-‘iina is those poor people who follow the prosperous people only for arrangement of their food and drinkables.

‘Irbati – (want), here it aims “sexual desire”. The aim from Gayra  ‘ulil-‘irbati is “those who do not think concerning women but mind their own business”.

‘Awraati – (those parts of the body, which are concealable), this world is plural of ‘awrat, which means “secret matters of the women”.

Nisaaa’ – (here it aims “those chaste women who dwell close every time”).

Besides those close relatives, concerning whom, it was described in the previous verse, the women can reveal their adornment also before - chaste women who remain every time with them, their slaves, their male attendants who do not have sexual desire and the children who do not know nakedness of the women.

It is found here that revealing the things of own adornment before loose character women is unlawful. Concealing is not necessary before male attendants who mind their own business, who do not see with evil-sight or who do not have sexual desire. Coming before grown-up boys unhesitatingly is not right. They should not reveal their natural, bodily beauties and adornments before loose character and immodest women who wander out unhesitatingly. These are etiquettes of dwelling at home for women which are being taught to them. It is education of modesty and shame which Holy Qur’an teaches.
