Lo!
those who disbelieve, and die in disbelief, the (whole) earth full of gold
would not be accepted from such an one if it were offered as a ransom (for
his soul).

kafaruu wa maatuu
wa
hum kuffaarun- falany-yuqbala min ‘ahadihim
mil-‘ul-‘arzi zahabanw-wa la-wiftadaa bih.

Lesson
In this verse such infidels
and sinners have been admonished who think always that gold and silver (wealth
and property) are the actual source of whole power and strength. Money covers
the entire sins and conceals all the evils. They think that as they escape from
punishment of crimes by giving a bribe or ransom in this world, likewise they
might escape from wrath of Allah Almighty by giving Him silver and gold as a
ransom in the Doomsday.
Allah Almighty has told
them that their imaginations were vain. If any sinner out of them have gold
equivalent to the entire earth and he wishes to present it as ransom of his
sins to Allah Almighty, then it will never be accepted. He has no need of the
gold. He is Owner of the whole universe, earth and skies, Creator of all the
creatures and existents, all are obedient unto Him from an atom to the sun,
from an ant to elephant and from inferior sinner human being to a high dignity
Prophet (peace be upon him). Gold, silver, money, wealth and riches, all are in
His Ownership and He is the One, Who gives these all things to the people. Then
why would He forgive the sinners against the ransom of it?
In fact ideology of bribe
and ransom is creation of those people, whose religion is money and wealth,
whose purpose of life is wealth, who look for this during their entire life,
spend their time and labor to acquire it, pass their age for its collection. At
last taking its grief in their hearts, they leave this mortal world with empty
hands. These people used to run behind the gold and silver, and did close
pursuit for the wealth. They endowed their entire attention and labor for it,
but found too much dreadful, full of pain and suffering result. They remained
in the same wrong supposition that this thing is the origin of salvation and cause
of success. But these blind of wisdom do not know that the real wealth is the
wealth of Belief. Real capital is the capital of virtue. Gold and silver have
the value not even like just a worthless straw comparatively to good acts. On
the Doomsday, just righteousness can save. Heaps of gold and silver would not
work in the Hereafter.
Iftadaa- (offered as a ransom) ransom means to repay,
which is paid in return of any fault or sin in the form of wealth or any other
thing.
The People of the
Scripture had false belief about ransom, which became cause of their
waywardness and easiness.

Lesson
As it has been described in
detail in the previous verses that after the arguing with the group of Najraan and
notwithstanding to believe heartily in the truth of the Messenger of Allah
Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him), the Christians did
not believe. They used to calumniate that Allah Almighty has said a certain
thing, so and so has been written in this Scripture, whereas, they used to
concoct all these sayings personally at their own. Moreover, No Prophet or
Messenger (peace be upon him) teaches against the orders of Allah Almighty. He
[Prophet or Messenger (peace be upon him)] never commands to worship him. He
says always, “Be of Allah”. But the Nazarene changed the commands of Allah
Almighty and did not accept. They used to differentiate between the Prophets
(peace be upon them), whereas Allah Almighty sent all of them with one path of
guidance and taught them the lesson of Unity (Oneness of God).
After knowing these entire
realities even then, the Christians did not believe and used to deny. They used
to sell their faith being involved in the love of wealth and property, and
entangled in the worldly aims, did not use to care for the Doomsday, arrange
for their end. Allah Almighty publicized that He would never show the path of
guidance to such people. Moreover, as for such, their guerdon is that on them
rests the curse of Allah
Almighty and of angels
(peace be upon them) and of men combined, they will abide therein for ever.
Their doom will not be lightened, neither will they be reprieved.
Look at the Mercy of Allah
Almighty that He gives another chance to the mankind to repent, to be ashamed
on his bad acts and entitled of forgiveness. But the disbelievers still do not
understand, refuse to Allah Almighty, use to become fixed on it during their
entire life and do not repent till the moment of death. The whole earth full of
gold would not be accepted from such people if it were offered as a ransom for
their soul. These are the sinners. They would have to see their painful doom,
enjoy the severest chastisement. There will be neither any friend of them, nor
helper, nor supporter and nor their any saver from Allah Almighty. Moreover,
these people will be helpless and support-less. Nobody will be his or her
trustworthy in the Day of Resurrection.
The wise and circumspect
person should take warning from these circumstances and facts. He should not
spoil his Hereafter adopting the way of stray people, and should not make his
future disgusting. In addition, getting lesson from these matters he should
choose the path of goodness.
There are two punishments
mentioned in this verse: 1. a painful doom, 2. they
will have no helpers. Those would slip away on which supports they were proud.
They will leave from which friends they had expectation. Blessed are those who
stand before time.

spend, Allah is Aware thereof.

tuhib-buun. Wa maa tunfiquu min- shay-‘in-
fa-‘innallaaha bihii ‘Aliim.

Lesson
Sometimes a man hesitates
to spend for piety due to the reason that he would have to sacrifice his
favorite things. There are many such things in this mortal world, which are
most beloved to him. Some times this love extends to the limit that he feels
unpleasant to stay separate from them. The love of these things compels him to
sacrifice every thing for them. This love makes him blind and he loses the
distinction between good and bad.
The life of human being
passes in getting pleasures, honor and becoming famous, wealth and children,
demand of nobility and chief-ship, and he/she loves them very much. Sometimes
he sacrifices also his honesty to achieve and maintain them. In his view, the
value of piety falls down as compared to these things. Likewise, he becomes
effigy of the selfishness, loving of the lustful desires and statue of
sensuality. Gradually he turns away from the piety at all.
As long as the selfishness
is not rooted out from the human heart and if he is not taught to love the
virtue more then every thing, he cannot become righteous. A man who becomes
ready to sacrifice his most favorite thing for piety, there is no doubt in his
sincerity, good intentions and his worship to God. In fact, selfishness is root
of the entire evils, and the sincerity is the soul of all the goodness.
The Jews and the Christians
used to love the wealth and affluence. They had power and chief-ship over the
uneducated people of their nation and this thing was very dear to them. They
were afraid that if they would believe in the last Prophet (grace, glory,
blessings and peace of Allah Almighty be upon him), if they obeyed him then
they would lose their nobility and strength. That is why they used to disbelieve
in him (grace, glory, blessings and peace of Allah Almighty be upon him). Allah
Almighty commanded them, “Till the time you will not be ready to sacrifice your
most favorite thing you would not be able to get the piety”. Allah Almighty
knows also that, “Who spent? Which thing spent? For whom spent? The thing, how
much favorite will be spent in the way of Allah Almighty, He will reward you
corresponding to that as retaliation.
Allah Almighty has
determined the standard for the piety that the person should sacrifice his most
favorite thing in His path. That will be considered the best virtue and Allah
Almighty will appreciate him for it.

food was lawful unto the Children of Israel , save that which Israel forbade
himself, (in days) before the Torah was revealed.

Lesson
Reason for revelation of
this verse is that the Jews said to the Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace,
glory, blessings and peace be upon him), “You tell that you are at the Religion
of Abraham (peace be upon him), but you eat those things, which were unlawful
for the family of Abraham (peace be upon him), for instance; meat of the camel
and its milk etc. How can you be a true follower of Abraham (peace be upon him)
in this form? Allah Almighty revealed this verse as reply to their criticism.
The things which the people
eat now usually, those entire were lawful during the time of Prophet Abraham
(peace be upon him) and remained lawful until before the revelation of Torah.
However, some things were declared unlawful in this Scripture particularly for
the children of Israel. As far as it relates to unlawfulness of the meat and
milk of the camel, Prophet Jacob (peace be upon him) had sworn not to eat and
drink them much before the revelation of Torah and following him, his children
had also left the use of these things. The cause to swear was that Prophet
Jacob (peace be upon him) was patient
of النساء عرق ‘pain in the joints’.
He (peace be upon him) made a vow with Allah Almighty, “Escape me from this
pain and if I become healthy, then I shall leave the use of my best favorite
thing. Therefore, he (peace be upon him) left the use of meat and milk of the
came which were his most favorite things for completion of the vow.
Remember it that as per
Islamic Divine Law the vow like this is not lawful to determine any legal thing
as illegal. Allah Almighty commands, “Yaaa ‘ayyu-han-Nabiy-yu lima tu-harrima maa
‘Ahallallaahu lak” (O Prophet! Why do you fix any thing as illegal, which Allah has
made legal for you), Surah: Tahriim, section:1. If due to
error and omission someone swears then he should break it at once and has to
pay expiation.
It is revealed from this
statement that some orders out of the previous religious laws of God Almighty
were cancelled. Some things were lawful in the beginning, afterwards those were
declared unlawful and some were unlawful, which were fixed afterwards as
lawful. Therefore, if now there is some difference regarding lawful and
unlawful between Muhammadan religious law and the previous religious laws, then
there is no reason to be disbelieved in it. Moreover, in the present verse, it
has been described leaving any most loving thing by Prophet Jacob (peace be
upon him) and in the previous verse it was mentioned to spend most liked thing.
Likewise, a light relation has been produced in these both verses.

Lesson
In the first sentence of
this verse, the Jews have been responded against their criticism that the
things, which were forbidden in the religious law of the children of Israel,
how did they become permissible in Islam? Allah Almighty commanded, “Those
things which you have considered, were not unlawful. However, you had
determined them forbidden at your own. In the Divine Law of Abraham (peace be
upon him) they remained never forbidden.
In this last sentence of
the verse, the children of Israel are being addressed in clear words and with
powerful method, “If you have still any doubt and your hearts do not match our
description, then bring your Holy Book Torah, read it from the beginning to its
end. If you find this allegation anywhere in it that these things were
forbidden also in the Divine Law of Abraham (peace be upon him), then show us”.
How strange is it that they could not show any verse even from their altered
and mutilated book. Even then, they still stood opposite.
It is known from the
historians that the Jews did not accept this challenge of the Holy Qur’an, and
how could they accept it, while their claim was baseless. Neither they had the
real knowledge, and nor they could maintain actual instructions at their right
place.
Allah Almighty affirmed,
“If you would not be able to show any such order then it means that you are
inventing a falsehood concerning Allah for nothing. You are misinforming at the
name of Divine Law of the religion. You invent sayings on your own behalf and
attribute them with Holy Books and the religion. Doing such deeds will be
counted as unjust and tyrants. It is the fact that no tyranny can be too big in
this world that someone adjudges his own sayings as commanded by Allah
Almighty, being humankind begins to claim for him as divinity. The persons, who
do such acts, go astray not only themselves but they also provide the ground
for depravity of other creation of Allah Almighty.

Allah speaketh truth. So follow the religion of Abraham, the upright. He was
not of the idolaters.

mi-nal-mushrikiin.

Lesson
After describing the facts
about lawful and unlawful likewise the religion of Abraham (peace be upon him)
in the previous verses, Allah Almighty has said to His Messenger (grace, glory,
blessings and peace be upon him), “Say! (O Muhammad) Allah speaks the truth. He
has caused to hear you true and pure description besides permitted and
forbidden things, regarding Islam and Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and
peace be upon him). There is no doubt into them.
Millata ‘Ibraa-hiima haniifaa – (the religion of Abraham, the upright). The word Millat is
usually used for a group, a nation (specifically religious nation), religion
and creed, sect, mode and doctrine.
Literally, Haniif means
‘a kind of bow’ i.e. a person who adheres to rectitude, upright, in an erect
position and honest. It also aims that the person who leans towards only one
direction turning from all others and becomes of only One disconnecting all
other relations. Haniif is a title of Prophet Abraham (peace
be upon him) also. His (peace be upon him) life is perfect explanation of this
word. He (peace be upon him) left his family, community and country. He
remained an iconoclast, turned away from the stars and accepted to fell into
the fire (here; it is told “unhesitatingly love plunged into the fire of
Nimrud” (Bay khatar kuud parhaa aatishi nanruud men ishq). He tolerated
to leave his (peace be upon Him) wife and child, accepted to sacrifice his son
(peace be upon them) for the sake of Allah the Most High. In short he (peace be
upon him) sacrificed in every respect for the pleasure of Allah Almighty.
The Jews and the Christians
were very proud of being from the race of Prophet Abraham (peace be upon him).
They also used to claim that the real religion of Prophet Abraham (peace be
upon him) has reached only them heart to heart. Holy Qur’an cleared that
although the children of Israel are from the descendants of Prophet Abraham
(peace be upon him), but they are not his (peace be upon him) followers in the
religion. Prophet Abraham (peace be upon him) was purely Monotheistic, never
came near the polytheism. But the children of Israel are materialistic, they
worship their Prophets (peace be upon them) and the monks, sell their belief
being influenced by ordinary greed, run away from the selflessness and
sacrifice, cause to clip from austerity, strive and struggle. In these
circumstances, what their relation may be with Prophet Abraham (peace be upon
him)?
Above-mentioned evidences
clear that the Muslims are nearer to Prophet Abraham (peace be upon him)
instead of the children of Israel. Because they are convinced from the
monotheism of Prophet Abraham (peace be upon him), are bound for admission and
pleasure, and the obedience is their tenet. Therefore, the Jews, who claim
verbally to be followers of Prophet Abraham (peace be upon Him), they should
follow Prophet Abraham (peace be upon Him) whole-heartedly like Muslims, leaving
polytheism and adopting monotheism. They should acquire belief and faith
leaving the evil and mutiny.

Lo! the first Sanctuary appointed for mankind was that at Bekkah, a
blessed place, a guidance to the peoples;

Wherein are clear signs (of Allah’s Guidance); the place where Abraham stood
up to pray; and whosoever entereth it is safe.

Lesson
‘Awwala Bay-tin - (the first Sanctuary), it aims ‘the House of Allah Almighty at
Mecca’ i.e. Bay-tUllaah, Ka’-ba, which is the first place of
worship. This Square Building have the capacity of the conqueror of the world
(International level), because remaining all places of worship were of local
and national level. Moreover, the entire other places of worship were built
afterwards either those were idol-temples, pagodas, furnace temples of
worshippers, churches or some other (considered) sacred places. Being the first
place of worship the chaplet is on the head of this Square Building.
Upon this claim of Muslims,
“We are nearer to Prophet Abraham (peace be upon him) than all other nations
and groups”, the Jews had objection also that actual native land of Prophet
Abraham (peace be upon him) was Iraq, from where he (peace be upon him) migrated
to Syria. Then he lived and deceased there. His (peace be upon him) descendants
also used to live in Syria. The Prophets (peace be upon them), who came in that
country, they chose the temple of Jerusalem as their direction of worship. The
Centre of Islam, contrary to them, is Hejaz. The Muslims left the direction of
the temple of Jerusalem and adopted the temple of Mecca (Ka’-ba) as
their direction and place of worship. How can they claim near relationship with
Prophet Abraham (peace be upon him), while they (the Muslims) live much away
from Syria?
Reply to those objectors
has been dictated in the above mentioned verse. That is to say; the temple of
Jerusalem and other blessed places were built after that {the temple of Mecca (Ka’-ba)}.
Forty years after the construction of the temple of Mecca (Ka’-ba) (Bay-tUllaah),
Prophet Isaac (peace be upon him) laid a foundation of the temple of Jerusalem
(Bay-tul Muqaddis). Construction of the temple of Jerusalem was
completed many hundreds years later during the time of Prophet David (peace be
upon him). The first Holy House in the world, which was built for the Guidance,
that is Ka’-ba, which is situated in the city of Mecca Mu-‘azma.
Purpose for the construction of this Holy House was that the people of the
world should come here and turn their attention towards Allah (God) Almighty.
From the beginning, Allah
Almighty bestowed His apparent and hidden blessing to this Sacred Place,
settled it a spring for Guidance of the entire world. He sent His Last
Messenger, Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) to this
sacred place. He invited the entire world for pilgrimage, commanded the Muslims
to direct their faces towards this place during offering their prayers and
Allah Almighty kept different types of tokens in the earth of Mecca due to the
blessing of BaytUllaah (the temple of Mecca) (Ka’-ba).
The person, who reported here, got safety and peace.

And
Pilgrimage to the House is a duty unto Allah for mankind, for him who can find
a way thither. And as for him who disbelieveth, (let him know that) lo! Allah
is Independent of (all) creatures.

Wa
lillaahi ‘alannaasi Hijjul-Bayti manistataa-‘a
‘ilayhi sabiilaa. Wa man- kafara fa-
‘innallaaha Ganiy-yun ‘anil- ‘aalamiin.
|
Lesson
‘istataa-‘a
‘ilayhi sabiilaa – (for him who can find a way thither), it means that he would have
sources and means to reach the House of God Almighty (the Inviolable
Place of worship i.e. Ka’-ba), provisions, traveling requisites and
difficulty of the journey should not be intervening.
Heretofore, after
explaining the specific matters about Prophet Abraham (peace be upon him) and
his custom, it had been cleared that the Muslim nation is nearest in relation
with Prophet Abraham (peace be upon Him) than the Jews. The first House, which
was constructed as the place of worship, was the House of Allah Almighty in
Mecca (Ka’-ba). The Muslims chose it as place and direction for the worship.
Allah Almighty commanded, “This House is very much blessed. Whosoever has
blessing and guidance on the earth, that is the reflection of this House of
Allah (Baitullah), astonishing blessings are revealed upon the persons,
who make the circuit of Ka’-ba (Circumambulators) around it. It has been
distinguished particularly for performing its pilgrimage”.
Pilgrimage is a such
worship, every act of which shows that the person, who is performing the
pilgrimage, how much he has love of the Real Master (God Almighty) in his
heart? Therefore, Allah Almighty ordered, “Allah has the Right on the people
that the persons, who can afford to come Here, they must perform the pilgrimage
of Ka’-ba. The person, who claims to be in love with Allah Almighty
and can afford to reach this House of Allah (Baitullah) physically and
financially, he would attend the House of the Real Worshipped at least once in
his/her life. The person, who will avoid performing the pilgrimage, lo!
Comprehend of him that he is liar claimant of love with Allah Almighty; he may
be pushed, wherever he wants. Allah Almighty does not have any care for
him/her; if someone dies as a Jew or a Christian, it does not affect Allah
Almighty”.
This test (of pilgrimage)
will clear that who has been convinced by Oneness of God Almighty. Who loves
purely Allah Almighty? Whoever has love for wealth, he will delay to perform
the pilgrimage, he cannot be real worshipper of God, and who would have real
love, he will reach there frenziedly. He will revolve around the House of Allah
like the frenzies, with scattered hair, will confess with love and great
humility saying, “Labbayka, Allaahumma Labbayka, Labbayka laa
Shariika Laka Labbayka, ‘Innal-hamda wan-Na’-mata Laka
wal-Mulk, laa Shariika Lak”. (Here I am O Allah, here
I am, there is no partner for You, here I am, Verily all praise for You, and
every bounty is from You, and all dominion is Yours - You have no partner.).
He will kiss the Black Stone, fixed in a corner of the Square Building of Ka’-ba,
(Hajar-i-Aswad), will run on the Safa and the Marwa hillocks,
will offer prayer at the place of Abraham (Maqaam-i-‘Ibraa-hiim) (peace
be upon him), will sacrifice in Minaa, will be present at Jabal-i-
Rahmat . Even he will do every thing with which his/her Lord may be
happy.

maa ta’-maluun.
99.
Qul yaaa-‘Ahlal-Kitaabi lima tasudduuna ‘an-
Sabiilil-laahi man ‘aamana tab-guuna-haa
‘iwajanw-wa ‘antum shuha-daaa’. Wa mallaahu
bi-gaafi-lin ‘ammaa ta’-maluun.

Lesson
At first, the Jews and the
Christians were being addressed. In the midst, their objections were replied
and doubts were cleared. Now they are being admonished again, “While the paths
of good and evil have been described you openly. The proofs of just and truth
have been manifested, true and valid verses of Holy Qur’an have been caused to
hear you. Then now what is the problem with you that you have fixed yourselves
to disbelieve in Holy Qur’an and the Holder of this Word of Allah Almighty i.e.
His last Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him), whereas you
are called the people of the Scripture”. “Remember it that your entire deeds
are being noted by Allah Almighty. He knows very well also your intentions and
schemes. When He will arrest you, then He will leave you not before taking a
complete account”.
Messenger of Allah Almighty
(grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) is being commanded in the
second verse of this lesson, “Inquire into the People of the Scripture! Not
only you are deprived of getting the wealth of Belief yourselves, but you wish
to drive back the believers from the Way of Allah too. Why is it so, that you
try to find false and untrue faults in Islam seeking to make it crooked (to
turn the Muslims away from Islam), when you are witnesses (to Allah’s
Guidance)? You do not do these bad acts unknowingly, but try to falsify the
truth after recognition. Allah Almighty is not Unaware of these wickedness.
When the time of reprisal will come, He will punish you severely.
We have come to know from
these verses that the children of Israel have willing or unwilling enmity,
malice and obstinacy with Islam. Holy Qur’an has described them entire facts
openly and they have understood it too, that the Holy Qur’an is really the Word
of Allah Almighty. Notwithstanding they do not adopt the straight path.

O ye
who believe! If ye obey a party of those who have received the Scripture they
will make you disbelievers after your belief.

Yaaa-
‘ayyuhal-laziina ‘aa-manuuu ‘in- tutii-‘uu
fariiqam-minallaziina ‘uutul-Kitaaba ya-rudduukum-
ba’-da ‘imaani-kum kaafiriin.
|
Lesson
The people of the Scripture
were threatened in the previous verses, “It is not convenient for you that you
use to mislead the people intentionally telling them fictitious faults
regarding the religion of Islam, while open tokens and proofs in respect of the
truth of Islam, Holy Qur’an and the Last Messenger, Muhammad (grace, glory,
blessings and peace of Allah Almighty be upon him) have been manifested upon
you”.
It is clear that the
children of Israel used to bear malice willing or unwilling. They did not
abstain after listening to the advice. Therefore, along with thus, the Muslims
have also been advised, “You should not be taken in these mischievous persons.
They will try to make you disbelievers with gaits of various sorts. If you will
move on their suggestions and obey them, then you will throw yourselves into a
state of anxiety that gradually you will fall again in the darkness of the
infidelity, after coming out from the light of Belief, whence it is much
difficult to come back afterwards.
ya-rudduukum – (they will make you disbelievers), origin of this word is Raddun and
the word Murtad has also come out from it. Hardest and
severest punishment in Islam is for the Murtad, (the person, who
turns away from Islam, is called Murtad). We cannot compel any
person to accept Islam, but he cannot be forgiven who becomes Murtad (who
turns away from Islam), because he falls in the well of darkness of the
infidelity willfully and with knowledge.
Several affairs manifest
from this verse:
The people of the Scripture
are extremely enemies of Islam and they try always that the Muslims would
have turned from the religion Islam towards infidelity and belief in a
plurality of God (polytheism). It is there deliberate conspiracy.
A man is known by the
company he keeps and the company affects itself very soon. If the Muslims will
choose friendship with the people of the Scripture, act upon their advice and
accept their sayings, then in process of the time their wickedness, depravity,
denial and diabolical acts will infect the Muslims too.
The Muslims should learn in
these circumstances that they should not attend more the company of the people
of the Scripture, not listen to their talks, not be deceived and not increase
their relations with them. It is the only form to escape oneself from their
evil.

How can
you disbelieve, when it is ye unto whom Allah’s Revelations are recited, and
His Messenger is in your midst? And he who holdeth fast to Allah, he indeed
is guided unto a right path.

Wa
kayfa tak-furuuna wa ‘antum tutlaa
‘alaykum
‘Aayaa-tullaahi wa fiikum Rasuuluh.
Wa
many-ya’-tasim billaahi fa-qad hudiya ‘ilaa
Siraatim-Musttaqiim.

Lesson
It has been described in
this verse that the nation like Muslims can not become disbeliever after having
faith, because Messenger of Allah Almighty (of high dignity) is present between
them, who causes to hear them the Word of Allah Almighty, which increases their
Belief. He uses to recite the Revelations of Allah Almighty. It is the fact
that the person, whosoever holds fast to Allah Almighty leaving entire other
paths and whosoever places confidence and trust in Him heartily, no power can
foil up or down him from the straight path.
The ancient lineages
of Madinah had very severe enmity with each other before
Islam. They used to decide on a war upon very ordinary matters and the bazaar
of bloodshed used to be hot (angry). When the Last Messenger of Allah Almighty,
Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) migrated from Makkah to Madinah,
then they were in luck. The enmity between the tribes, which had been running
since hundreds of the years, changed in to friendship due to teachings of Islam
and blessing of the company of Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be
upon him). Moreover, very strong brotherly relations established between them.
The Jews of Madinah became
very unpleasant due to like this meeting of these dynasties and families, and
being collected together for the service and protection of Islam. They
appointed a person, to make mention wherever the people of both the lineages
assemble about “The War of Bu-‘aas” (which was fought between the
two famous tribes). He began reading the poetry to remind about the war when he
found opportunity to cause to hear the both parties. As soon as the people
listened to this poetry, then with in no time a spark of anger was inflamed and
both the tribes began to equip their weapons for the war. By chance Messenger
of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) reached there
with some companions (may Allah be pleased with them). He (grace, glory,
blessings and peace be upon him) commanded, “O Muslims! Be frightened from
Allah Almighty. I am in your midst, then how this uncivil calling out aloud?
Allah Almighty guided you. Do you want to return from the light of guidance
immediately after arriving, towards the darkness of ignorance”? As soon as they
listened to the voice of the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be
upon him), then entire rings of the devil’s net broke one by one. All the
people threw their weapons and began weeping and embracing each other. They all
understood that it was their enemies’ mischievousness, from which they would
have to be careful in future.

Lesson
Auspicious Existence of the
Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) and
blessings of his company were described in the previous lesson. In addition, it
was told that how a Muslim could go to the darkness of Infidelity after getting
the light of Belief, in the presence of Allah’s Beloved Messenger Muhammad
(grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) and his teachings. The Muslims
are being preached in this verse, “Observe your duty to Allah with right
observance, and die not save as those who have surrendered (unto Him) so that
Allah Almighty keep you steadfast on the path of guidance.
haqqa tuqaa-tihii - (with right observance),
we should have fear from Allah Almighty as though and as much as we have to Observe our duty
to Him with right observance. It has been explained many times earlier about
God fearing, abstinence, piety, and the word “Taqwaa” has also been used
individually.
Taqwaa is the Soul of Islam
and Belief, because it is difficult to spring up the Islamic characteristics
and chaste life without living with virtuousness, care and looking after.
Therefore, Allah Almighty commanded here, “Observe your duty to Allah with
right observance, and die not save as those who have surrendered (unto Him)”.
As though, Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be
upon him) said himself, “Belief is in between the Fear and the Hope”. The
earth and the skies, sun and moon, rivers and mountains, forests and
greensward, animals, vegetation and plants, minerals, fossils and stones etc,
on the whole, the entire existing things are Allah’s created and in His
holding. Any atom of the world cannot move hither to thither without His order.
Life and death of the human beings is in His Hand and their standing and
sitting, walking and moving is in His Jurisdiction. Living in poverty and
prosperity is according to written fate of Allah Almighty. Briefly, each
ordinary movement of the humanity is in the Power and authority of Allah
Almighty. Therefore, whose right observance on the human life can be more than
Allah Almighty? While the humankind is indigent of Allah Almighty for his life
and its continuance on each step, then it is necessary for him to be frightened
from Allah Almighty as much as He has the right to be afraid from Him.
In the second piece of the
verse, Allah Almighty commanded the Muslims, “and die not save as those who
have surrendered (unto Him)”, do not do any act against Islam, your life and
death should be at pure Islam, it is due upon you that you should not die until
the time you don’t become a true and perfect Muslim. In other words, it means
that, you should remain living with Islamic glory each second ad each minute.
Who knows that when the death comes. Infidelity, devilishness, greed and
selfishness should never cause to winnow near oneself during the lifetime. This
is the form only in which we can come out with credit in the obedience of His
Order that we should Live for Islam and Die for Islam.
