LESSON # 362 FROM HOLY QUR’AN

And as for those who believe and do good works, He will pay them
their wages in full. And Allah loveth not wrongdoers.
|
Wa ‘ammallaziina ‘aama-nuu
wa ‘amilus-saalihaati fayu-wafiihim
‘ujuurahum. Wallaahu
laa yuhibbuz-zaalimiin.

Lesson
It was discussed in the previous verses that Allah Almighty would
destroy the confederacies of disbeliever children of Israel. He would save His
Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him) from their causing troubles with His most
dignified and best management. He would disgrace and abase the Infidels, punish
them severely in this world and the Hereafter. In this verse, it has been
mentioned about the wages and remuneration of the Believers and Pious persons.
We believe that when the children of Israel strengthened their
impure schemes, then Allah Almighty picked the Prophet Jesus (peace be upon
him) up alive to the heavens. Many Sayings of the Last Messenger (peace be upon
him) give clues that when the world will fill in infidelity and error near the
Hereafter, then Jesus (peace be upon him) will be descent by Allah Almighty as
a most faithful helper of Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace of God
Almighty be upon him). Allah Almighty will show the world, “How much good
relations have former Prophets (peace be upon them) with His beloved and last
Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him)”. Jesus (peace be
upon him) will slay The Liar (Dajjaal) and kill his followers Jews
searching them hither and thither. No Jew will remain alive. Until that the
trees and stones will tell, “Kill the Jew who is standing behind us”. Christ
(peace be upon him) will break the Crucifix. He (peace be upon him) will put
the entire world on the path of Belief after reforming the false beliefs of the
Christians. Then only God’s true religion Islam will remain at the end of all
dissensions.
It is known from the previous lesson that Prophet Jesus Christ
(peace be upon him) has been lifted alive to the heaven and the faith of
Jews is false that he (peace be upon him) was slain. There is no known reason
to disbelieve it, if it is perused with deep thought. If Jesus (peace be upon
him) can be born without father, if he can fashion out of clay the likeness of
a bird, and he breathes into it and it is a bird, by Allah’s leave and if he
can heal the person who was born blind, and the leper, and if he can raise the
dead by Allah’s leave, then how can it be far to pick his body up by Allah’s
leave? As the Angels (peace be upon them) are present in the heavens, likewise
Jesus (peace be upon him) can live there for thousands of the years.
It is not wisdom to sit in a state of ease and comfort waiting for
arrival of Christ (peace be upon him). It is our (all Muslims’) duty that we
should try our best to raise the Word of Allah Almighty and keep performing the
duties every time rested upon us by Islam.

59. Lo! the likeness of Jesus with Allah is as the
likeness of Adam. He created him of dust, then He said unto him: Be! and
he is.
60. (This is) the truth from thy Lord (O Muhammad), so be
not thou of those who waver.

Lesson
Allah Almighty described all the realities about Prophet Jesus
Christ (peace be upon him) to the Messenger Muhammad (grace,
glory, blessings and peace be upon him) and
commanded, “if the Christians quarrel even now with You (grace, glory,
blessings and peace be upon him) regarding Prophet Jesus
Christ (peace be upon him) then do not care for them. Denier of the sunlight is
called blind likewise; the denier of facts is wretched and unfortunate”.
The people of Scripture used to quarrel with the
Messenger of God Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him)
in the matter that Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him) was not servant of
Allah Almighty but was His son. They used to say, “if he (peace
be upon him) is not son of God Almighty then you (grace, glory, blessings and
peace be upon him) should tell us, whose son He (peace
be upon him) is”? Responding them Allah Almighty
said, “Prophet Adam (peace be upon Him) did have neither father nor mother.
Therefore, if Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him) had not father then
what is there to be wonder? Not having by anyone father, it does not mean
that he is son of God. Otherwise, like this, the grade of Prophet Adam (peace
be upon Him) should be higher than Prophet Jesus
Christ (peace be upon him) and he (peace be upon him) would have more right to
be called as son of God”.
It is the reality that God Almighty created Prophet Adam (peace be
upon him) from dust and also created Prophet Jesus
Christ (peace be upon him) from the dust. Likeness of both of them is the same
(peace be upon them). Neither Prophet Adam (peace be upon him) was son of God
nor Prophet Jesus Christ (peace be
upon him). After that, Allah Almighty commanded the last Prophet (grace,
glory, blessings and peace be upon him), “Whatever We
described about “Messiah” (peace be upon him), that entire is quite right.
There is no space of doubt in it. You (grace, glory, blessings
and peace be upon him) should never be out of the people who have
doubts”.
By exemplifying Prophet Jesus Christ (peace be
upon him) with Prophet Adam (peace be upon him), Allah Almighty has proved such
clear evidence that no choice of argument remains now in this matter. The
Father of entire human beings who (Adam; peace be upon Him) was born in heaven
without mother and father, if he (peace be upon Him) is neither God and nor son
of God, then one, who is born from the womb of a mother in this world, how can
he (peace be upon him) be son of God?

knowledge which hath come unto thee, say (unto him): Come! We will summon our
sons and your sons, and our women and your women, and ourselves and
yourselves, then we will pray humbly (to our Lord) and (solemnly) invoke the
curse of Allah upon those who lie.

‘ab-naaa-‘anaa wa ‘ab-naaa-‘akum wa nisaaa-‘anaa

‘anfusakum, summa nabta-hil fanaj-‘al-la’-natallaahi
‘alal-kaazibiin.

Lesson
The Christians of Syria (Najraan), who came
to argue and debate with the Messenger Muhammad (grace,
glory, blessings and peace be upon him), presented their
entire false beliefs. Allah Almighty replied them through Holy Qur’an and
silenced them.
Even after listening to the clear proofs, those Christians
of Najraan did not believe it and remained firm on their false
faith. Allah Almighty commanded His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings
and peace be upon him) to establish Mubahila with them (both groups would have to get
together with their families and pray with pleading that whosoever out of us is
liar, invocation would be prayed for his curse and wrath of God). At its first
step, this situation of Mubahila will clarify that which the
group has really believed in his inner truth and at which extent. Hearing the
invitation of Mubahila, the group from Syria (the Christians
of Najraan) requested for respite so that they would answer after
consultation. When they got together for consultation, then wise persons out of
them said, “You people have understood in your hearts that Muhammad (grace,
glory, blessings and peace be upon him) is really Messenger
of Allah Almighty. He has described clear and decisive words about Prophet
Jesus (peace be upon him), and you also know that Allah Almighty had promised
to send His Messenger from the children of Ishmael, and it is possible that He
(Muhammad) (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him)
is that same Messenger. To set up the Mubahila with any
Messenger, can result in favor of any nation that none of them (either younger
or elder) could escape from destruction and torment.
After consulting Syrians (Najraani Christians)
attended the court of last Prophet (grace, glory, blessings
and peace be upon him). They saw that the Messenger of Allah
Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him)
was coming out with Hassan and Hussain (his daughter’s sons), Fatima (his
daughter and Ali (his son in law) (raziiAllaahu ‘anhum). Looking upon
these luminous faces, their superior Clergyman said, “I am looking such pure
faces whose prayer can shake the mountains from their places. Do not ruin
yourselves by fixing the Mubahila with them.” At last, they
decided not to compete and returned after reconciling. It has been mentioned in
the Sayings that the Messenger of God Almighty (grace, glory, blessings
and peace be upon him) said, “If those people would have done Mubahila,
then it would rained such fire upon them that Allah Almighty would subvert the
Syria (Najraan).

save Allah. And lo! Allah, He verily is the Mighty, the Wise.
63. And if they turn away, then lo! Allah is Aware of (who
are) the corrupters.

62. ‘Inna haazaa lahuwal-qasa-sul-haqq. Wa
maa min ‘ilaa-hin ’illallaah. Wa
‘innallaaha
la-Huwal-‘Aziizul-Hakiim.
63. ‘Fa-‘in-ta-wal-law fa-‘innal-laaha ‘Aliimum-
bil-mufsidiin.

Lesson
‘Al-qasa-sul-haqq – (true
narration), the word qasas is
single noun which means event, incident, news, a story. Haqq means pure, true and
hundred percent correct. ‘Al-qasa-sul-haqq aims
correct story as well as true narration too. The last meanings are advisable
presumption here.
Mufsidiin – (the
corrupters) its singular is Mufsid, that is to say; the person, who
produces confusion, scattering and depravity. He becomes cause of badness and
quarrels despite peace and rectification.
Invitation of Mubahila was given to the Christians
of Najraan on the points, which were described in the Holy
Qur’an about Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him). That is the true mention and
Allah Almighty is pure from all kinds of plurality and the relationship of
father (God) and son (Jesus) (I seek refuge in Allah).
Neither He is father of anyone, nor someone is His son, but He is One and
Alone. He is Creator of the entire creatures. None is worshiped but He. The
relationship between Allah Almighty and humanity is The Worshipped and the
slave.
Allah Almighty verily is the Mighty and the Wise. He will
determine the true to the honest, sincere, faithful and genuine, and the liar
to the false, untrue and the not genuine. He described full of wisdom
resolution of Mubahila to His graceful Messenger, Muhammad (grace,
glory, blessings and peace be upon him) for his fidelity, reply of which could
not be prepared by the Christians. And they returned duly reconciled. He, the
Almighty and the Overcoming God will punish severely to the disbelievers and
quarrelsome persons.
Allah Almighty explained that if these people neither listen to
the arguments, nor agree for Mubahila, then comprehend it that they
are Stubbornness and persisting. They do not intend to understand and accept
the truth. They do not want to bow before the commands of the Messenger (grace,
glory, blessings and peace be upon him). Their main aim is to spread dissention
and mischief, and to produce the facts in a false form. Then lo! Allah is Aware
of those entire persons, who are the corrupters and He will determine all of
them.
We have learnt from this lesson that the facts should not be
ignored, when those are proved. The commands of the Messenger of Allah Almighty
(grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) should be accepted wholehearted
while they show the right path. Each person should consider these commands as
true and act upon them.

Say: O people of the Scripture! Come to an
agreement between us and you: that we shall worship none but Allah, and that
we shall ascribe no partner Unto Him, and that none of us shall take others
for lords beside Allah. And if they turn away, then say: Bear witness that we
are they who have surrendered (unto Him).

Qul yaaa- ‘Ahlal-Kitaabi ta- ‘aalaw ‘ilaa
Kalimatin sawaaa-‘im- baynaa wa baynakum
‘allaa na’-budu ‘illal-laaha wa laa
nushrika bihii shay-‘anw-wa laa yattakhiza
ba’-zunaa ba’-zan ‘arbaabam-min-duunillaah. Fa-‘in-
ta-wal-law faquulush-haduu bi-‘annaa Muslimuun.

Lesson
The Messenger, Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace of
Allah Almighty be upon him) commanded the
delegation of Najraan, “’Aslimuu”
(Embrace Islam). They said, “’Aslamnaa” (we are Muslims). It
is recognized from the dialogue that the Christians also used to claim like
Muslims, “We are constant upon Islam”. Likewise, whenever the people of
Scripture were invited for believing the Unity of the Deity, they used to say,
“We believe in God also”. In this verse, it has been signified to their claim,
“O people of the Scripture! You and we are unanimous in the opinion
on original faith of Unity (Oneness of God). This faith can make us all one
league, provided that you and we should not change these claims. The only
requirement is that as you claim with tongue that you believe in One God, the
truth of your claim be proved also by IMPLEMENTING. Believe in His Oneness and
Ascribe no partner Unto Him really. Surrender yourselves unto Him, Worship none
but Allah, and that none of you will take others for lords beside Allah. None
should be made His son or daughter. Do not include your will between the
things, which have been fixed by Him lawful and unlawful. Moreover, accept His
orders and do not make alteration into them.
But, in spite of believing it, if they reject the Oneness of God,
use to make someone partnership with Allah Almighty and turn away, then O
Muslims! Say: Bear witness O the people of the Scripture that we are they who
are firm on Islam, who have surrendered unto Allah Almighty and who are His
obedient.
This verse manifests basic policy of Islam that the Muslims are
ready to cooperate with each group in the matters of goodness and good works.
If there is any form of non-cooperation with any group, that is only form of
sin, rebellion and insurrection. Islam invites also those people of the
Scripture who used to oppose it in the beginning, for teaching and preaching
about the mutual belief of the Oneness of God to come to an agreement between
the both parties.

Abraham, when the Torah and the Gospel were not revealed till after him? Have
ye then no sense?
66. Lo! ye are these who argue about that whereof ye have
some knowledge: Why then argue ye concerning that whereof ye have no
knowledge? And Allah knoweth, and ye know not.

fiii ‘Ibraahiima wa maaa ‘unzilatit-Tawraatu

Lesson
The Jews and the Christians (both) did claim that they were
Muslims and they believed in Oneness of God. They were also claimant of
the honor and respect of the Prophet and sincere friend of Allah, Abraham
(peace be upon him). Each of them used to say that Prophet Abraham (peace be
upon Him) was upon their religion. Which teachings and faith we have, that was
same as of the Prophet Abraham (peace be upon Him). That is to say, as per
their sayings Prophet Abraham (peace be upon Him) was either a Jew or a
Christian.
Allah Almighty replied their false beliefs, “As the Jews and the
Christians believe in Torah and Gospel, these Scripture were revealed
hundreds of the years after the time of Prophet Abraham (peace be upon Him).
Then how can they say that Prophet Abraham (peace be upon Him) was either Jew
or Christian. In fact, which type of Jews and Christians you are; in those
meanings even Prophet Moses and Jesus (peace be upon them) cannot be called
either Jew or Christian, because you are not even completely on the real
religion of those grandeur Messengers (peace be upon them). And if you mean
that the Divine Law of Prophet Abraham (peace be upon him) was nearer to your
religions, then it is also wrong. How did you know this knowledge? Because
neither your books have any mention about it nor God Almighty has informed you,
nor you can produce any proof about it, if it is not a folly then what is this.
– as your quarrel is in a matter, about which you have not any knowledge.
The things about which you had some knowledge, you have quarreled
because of them, that is to say; the incidents of Prophet Jesus (peace be upon
him) or glad tidings regarding the last Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and
peace of Allah Almighty be upon him) etc. But why do you shoot an arrow of
conjecture about which you know nothing. Only Allah Almighty is Knower that
which religion of the Prophet Abraham (peace be upon him) was, which Divine Law
is nearer to that today and who is his real successor.

67. Abraham was not a Jew, nor yet a Christian; but he was
an upright man who had surrendered (to Allah), and he was not of the
idolaters.
68. Lo! those of the mankind who have the best claim to
Abraham are those who followed him, and this Prophet and those who believe
(with him). And Allah is the Protecting Guardian of the believers.

Lesson
Haniifan – (an
upright man), the person, who goes the right path and leaves all spurious ways,
who disconnects his relations from entire sides and connects only with God
Almighty, Who is the Most High (the Worshipped). The Holy Qur’an has named him
(peace be upon him) as Haniifam-Muslimaa such
blessed name.
Musliman – (who
has surrendered to Allah, subject of Islam, Muslim and taslim (salutation,
complement, admission and accepting) is Salama, which means
obedience, subjection and subordination. This Will, salutation, complement,
admission, subjection, subordination and accepting is actually real religion.
This very manner remained always of the entire Prophets (peace be upon them).
Prophet Abraham (peace be upon him) enlightened particularly this peculiarity
of obedience with his complete prostration.
Allah Almighty has described the people of the Scripture about
the Rule Of Conduct Of The Prophet Abraham (peace be upon him) in
this verse. He was a simple Muslim, that is to say; leaving all the wrong paths
he (peace be upon him) had chosen only one path which lead to Allah Almighty,
he was only His obedient. His (peace be upon him) life’s each moment tells that
he was a statue of Will, salutation, complement, admission, subjection,
subordination and accepting with his perfect obedience. Leaving his wife and
newly born son in the barren valley of Arab for obeying the command of Allah
Almighty, becoming ready to sacrifice his beloved son Ishmael (peace be upon
him) for the cause of Allah Almighty and construction of the House of Allah
Almighty in Mecca (Khana Ka’-ba). These entire things indicate that how
much he (peace be upon him) was obedient to Allah Almighty. Absolutely he was
not of the idolaters as you are saying today someone son and someone daughter
of Allah Almighty.
Allah Almighty pointed out that either they had more relation with
Prophet Abraham (peace be upon him) who believed in Him or this consistency has
been bestowed to the Last Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be
upon him) and his nation. This nation has more suitableness with Prophet Abraham
(peace be upon him) in its faith, deeds and name (Muslim). The Prophet,
Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) of this nation was
sent due to the supplications of Prophet Abraham (peace be upon him), and the
teachings of Holy Qur’an are based on these principals.

69. A party of the People of the Scripture long to make
you go astray. And they make none to go astray except themselves, but they
perceive not.
70. O People of the Scripture! Why disbelieve ye in the
Revelations of Allah, when ye (yourselves) bear witness (to their truth)?
71. O People of the Scripture! Why confound ye truth with
falsehood and knowingly conceal the truth?

69. Waddat-taaa-‘ifatum-min
‘Ahlil-Kitaabi law yuzil-luuna-kum.
Wa maa yuzil-luuna ‘illaaa ‘anfusahum wa
maa yash-‘uruun.
70. Yaaa-AhlilKitaabi lima takfuruuna
bi-‘Aayaatillaahi wa ‘an-tum tash-haduun.
71. Yaaa-‘Ahlal-Kitaabi lima tal-bisuunal-haqqa
bil-baatili wa taktumuunal-haqqa wa

Lesson
In the former verse Allah Almighty described, “ ’Allaahu
Waliyyul- Mu’-miniin” (Allah is the Protecting Guardian of the
believers). In this verse He commanded that O the People of the Scripture!
While Allah is the Protecting Guardian of the believers, then you cannot
deceive them. It is the wish of some people of the Scripture that as they
(themselves) went astray, the Muslims should also be mislead from the Right
Path. But the Muslims will never be entrapped in their net. However, they are
enhancing in misfortune of their depravity. Harm of these attempts will come up
to them, which they do not understand presently.
Then the People of the Scripture have been warned, “Do not deny
the Word of Allah Almighty, whereas those Holy Books, upon which you have
faith, contain the glad tidings about the Last Messenger, Muhammad (grace,
glory, blessings and peace of Allah Almighty be upon him) and the Holy Qur’an
to which your hearts understand well. And whenever you are alone, then you
accept it. But openly you avoid to believe in the Last Messenger (grace, glory,
blessings and peace of Allah Almighty be upon him).
The children of Israel had dismissed some commands of Torah
totally due to worldly greediness, some were concealed and did not use to
proclaim about them. For instance; they did not use to mention the glad tidings
and predictions regarding the Last Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace
of Allah Almighty be upon him). It has been pointed out towards these types of
matters that, O the People of the Scripture! Why do you amalgamate true and
false? And why do you falsify the true glad tidings? Whereas you know that,
these all sayings are quite right.
It seems from these verses that the People of the Scripture keep
envy with the Muslims and try always to let them go astray like themselves. For
this purpose, they will adopt different schemes for the Muslims; they will
conspire and consult secretly against them. But Allah Almighty is the
Protecting Guardian of the believers, He will never let them succeed in their
plans.

opening of the day, and disbelieve at the end thereof, in order that they may
return.
73a. And believe not save in one who followeth your
religion.

‘aaminuu billaziii ‘unzila ‘alallaziina ’aa-manuu
wajhan-nahaari wakfuruuu ‘aakhirahuu la-‘allahum

73a. Wa laa tu’-minuuu ‘illaa li-man-
tabi-‘a Diinakum.

Lesson
Cunning activities and embezzlement of the People of the Scripture
have been discussed in these verses. Their one ingenuity was that “some people
of the Scripture use to become Muslims with planing in the morning and offer
prayers with the Muslims. But they would have to disbelieve in the evening
saying: [we have come to know from our great scholars. After verification it is
found that he “Muhammad” (grace, glory, blessings ans peace of Allah Almighty
be upon him) is not the Prophet, about whom glad tidings was told. And his
circumstances also did not prove like the right person]” (God forbid).
Resultant the persons, who are weak in their belief, when they
will see that some Muslims have left Islam, they will also return away and will
suppose that surely there might be any fault and blemish in the religion Islam,
due to which these people have seen off it after embracing Islam. The Ignorant
of the Arab considered the People of the Scripture as great scholars and
learned persons. By this reason, they will imagine that if this new religion
were true, then such “learned persons” would not reject it, despite they would
use to accept it before all.
Along with this plan, the Jews were also taught that, “Publicize
obligatory yourselves as Muslims before them, but remember that really
you should not embrace Islam. Notwithstanding remain the Jews. Do not be
taken in the Muslims. Moreover, remain follower whole-heartedly of the
Divine religion of Moses (peace be upon him). The only purpose to offer prayers
and worship along-with the Muslims should be that it would be left afterwards
and will deceive them whose belief is weak. We shall follow only our own
religion”.
It appears from this verse that how they made up their minds for
enmity of Islam with cheating. In what manners they schemed to deceive the
people. But Allah Almighty is Protecting Guardian of the Muslims. They will
never succeed in their plans. It is duty of the entire Muslims to be careful
also at their own places and they should escape themselves from the mischief of
the enemies of Islam. For example; danger of Israelite state in the center of
Islamic Countries, its preparations and plans against the Muslim states are
sufficient to open our eyes.

73b. Say (O Muhammad): Lo! the guidance is Allah’s
Guidance-that anyone is given the like of that which was given unto you or
that they may argue with you in the presence of your Lord. Say (O Muhammad):
Lo! the bounty is in Allah’s hand. He bestoweth it on whom He will. And Allah
is All-Embracing,
All-Knowing.
74. He selecteth for His mercy whom He will. And Allah is
of Infinite Bounty.

73b. Qul ‘innal-hudaa hudallaahi,
‘any-yu’-taaa ‘ahadum-misla maaa ‘uutiitum ‘aw
yuhaaaj-juukum ‘inda Rabbikum.
Qul ‘innal-fazla bi-yadillaah. Yu’-tiihi
many-yashaaa’. Wallaahu Waasi-‘un
‘Aliim.
74. Yakh-tassu bi-rahmatihii many-yashaaa’.
Wallaahu Zul-fazlil-‘Aziim.

Lesson
It has been told in these verses that only Allah Almighty may give
the Guidance. If anybody wishes to misguide someone, that is not possible
without the Command of Allah Almighty. O the children of Israel: you cannot
extinguish that Light of Guidance with your tricks, which Allah Almighty has
put into the heart of any person. Your plans will become useless.
It has also been cleared in this verse that the Jews make
different kinds of plans and schemes against the Muslims due to jealousy. They
envy due to the reason that why the Muslims are being given such Divine Law of
religion, Prophet-hood and Messenger-hood, which have been bestowed earlier to
the children of Israel, and why other people are leading in the religious
effort and struggle overcoming upon them and they (the Muslims) are accusing
them before God Almighty.
The Jews used to claim that only their nation was monopolist of
the Divine Law. Torah was revealed upon them. Lot of Prophets (peace be upon
them) came out of them after Moses (peace be upon him). Then what connection
with excellence and bounty has the illiterate and ignorant Arabs? Why a
Messenger has been born out of them? But it is visible that due to their
jealousy, those predictions of Torah could not be wrong, in which it has been
mentioned that Allah Almighty will bring a Prophet (grace, glory, blessings and
peace be upon him) like Moses (peace be upon him) out of the children of
Ishmael (the brothers of the children of Israel) (peace be upon them). He will
put His Word (Holy Qur’an) into his mouth (grace, glory, blessings and peace be
upon him). Therefore, the children of Ishmael (peace be upon him) got this
Wealth and in the field of knowledge, bounty and religious efforts and
struggles, They did not lead the children of Israel only but the entire world.
After that it has been described that Allah Almighty is
All-Embracing, All-Knowing and of Infinite Bounty. There is no
shortage in His treasures. And He Knows that to whom greatness should be given.
To distribute Prophet-hood, Divine Law of Religion, Belief and each kind of
favor is in His Hand only. He Bestows what He Wishes, when He Wishes, where He
wishes and to whom He wishes.

75. Among the People of the Scripture there is he who, if
thou trust him with a weight of treasure, will return it to thee. And among
them there is he who, if thou trust him with a piece of gold, will not return
it to thee unless thou keep standing over him. That is because they say: We
have no duty to the Gentiles. And they tell a lie concerning Allah
knowingly.
76. Nay, but (the chosen of Allah is) he who fulfilleth
his pledge and wardeth off (evil); for lo! Allah loveth those who ward off
(evil).

75. Wa min ‘Ahlil-Kitaabi
man ‘in- ta’-manhu
bi-qintaa-riny-yu-‘addihiii ‘ilayk. Wa minhumman
‘in ta’-manhu
bi-diinaaril-laa yu-‘addihiii ‘ilayka ‘illaa
maa dumta ‘alayhi qaaa-‘imaa. Zaalika bi-‘annahum
qaaluu laysa ‘alaynaafil-‘ummiyyiina sabiil. Wa
yaquu-luuna ‘alallaahil-kaziba wa hum
ya’-lamuun.
76. Balaa man ‘awfaa bi-‘ahdi-hii
wattaqaa fa-‘innallaaha yu-hibbul-Muttaqiin.

Lesson
Along-with the religious embezzlement, now the recital of the
People of the Scripture regarding their worldly dishonesty has also been
mentioned. Those people, who cannot be honest for a little sum, how can we rely
on them that they will be faithful in the religious matters?
Some people from them are those who, if you trust them with a
piece of gold, they will belie and will not return it to you unless you keep
standing over them each time. Surely all persons of them are not equal. Some
are those who, if you trust them with a weight of treasure, they will
return it to you. They will never embezzle. These are the honest and
well-disposed persons, who are fed up with Judaism and becoming servants of
Islam, likewise Abdullah bin Salaam (Radi AllahuAnhu) etc. The Jews
adduce this argument in favor of their worldly embezzlement and dishonesty, “We
have no duty to the Gentiles of the Arab, who are not upon our religion. Their
wealth is lawful for us in all respect. There is no sin to embezzle the trust
of non-religious persons, particularly those persons who have left their
religion and become Muslims. Whereas Allah Almighty has not given them
any right like this. Breach of trust is prohibited as per commands of Allah
Almighty. Moreover, the person, who will be honest, trustworthy and faithful,
remains under the fear of Allah Almighty and abstains from censured manners;
Allah Almighty likes him/her.

Lo! those who purchase a small gain at the cost of Allah’s
Covenant and their oaths, they have no portion in the Hereafter and Allah
will neither speak to them nor look upon them on the Day of Resurrection, nor
will He make them grow and theirs will be a painful doom.

‘Innallaziina yash-ta-ruuna
bi-‘ahdil-aahi wa ‘aymaanihim
samanan- qaliilan ‘ulaaa-‘ika laa
khalaaqa lahum fil-‘Aakhirati wa laa
yukallimu-humullaahu wa laa yanzuru
‘ilayhim Yaw-mal-Qiyaamati wa laa
yuzakkii-him wa lahum ‘azaabun ‘aliim.

Lesson
In these verses Allah Almighty has described His common Rule and
the punishment which He has determined for the covetous persons. That is to
say, those persons who use to violate their oaths for worldly contemptible and
a little wealth, and that they make witness to Allah Almighty for returning the
deposit. They go against their promises, do not keep correct their mutual
matters and do not remain firm on that covenant, which they did with Allah
Almighty. Moreover, they change the Divine orders due to the avarice of
rank and grandeur, and alter the Heavenly Scripture. Their end will be very bad.
· They
will not be given any share of good in the Hereafter
· Allah
Almighty will not talk to them on the Day of Resurrection.
· Most
High God will not look upon them with the view of Mercy on the Last Day.
· Allah,
Who is the Pure, will not make them grow and purify from their sins.
· And
for them there will be a painful doom.
The Jews had promised with God Almighty and they were sworn that
they would be the helpers and supporters of the Prophet (grace, glory,
blessings and peace be upon him). But they returned away from their covenant
and the above mentioned punishment is for them. It is learnt from this lesson
that anyone person who will embezzle in a thing or property committed to the
trust and care of him, he goes away from the faithfulness. He breaks the trust,
violates the oaths of Allah Almighty and does against his covenant. Its result
will be that, which have been explained above. It would be understood about him
that he has acquired the fruit of his struggles in the form of casual and
temporary worldly things in the world. He will be kept deprived of the benefits
of the Doomsday. The biggest favor on that Day will be the talk of Allah
Almighty with His servants. But He will not speak with him on the Day of
Resurrection.
