Commentary
It was commanded earlier: O Messenger (grace, glory, blessings
and peace be upon him)! These people urge an objection on being your Messenger
that you are only a mankind like them; you eat food also like them and walk in
the markets too like them. Their aim from saying so was to mislead other people
that lest they begin to believe that you are a Messenger of Allaah
Almighty. They used to say that Allaah is The Greatest King. If He had
to send a Messenger then his pomp were to be apart from common people. Either he
would have been any greatest Angel or pure and unpolluted from those
requirements in which a mankind has been entangled, or if he were a mankind; he
would have great splendor; and angels along with him for his service; who had
to guide him during travelling and say to the people to clear the way. However,
if not more, then at least one angel was must along with him for helping him in
different works and conveying the Message.
Their such kind of objections have been exposed to view. It is
commanded: Appointing a mankind as a Messenger is suitable to send among the
human beings and it was practised from the beginning. O Messenger (grace,
glory, blessings and peace be upon him)! We sent many Messengers (peace be upon
them) before you for the guidance of the human beings who all were mankind and
men like other common people; towards whom they were sent. They all used to eat
food and walk in the markets in accordance with their requirements and
expedience. Its philosophy is obvious that sending any Angel or pompous man as
Our Messenger and inspiring with awe to admit Our order by force was not
agreeable to Us. But sending Our Message by means of a sociable and civil
mankind was acceptable to Us so that the people may understand Our Message by
their sense and act upon the Instructions according to Our Commandments.
