Introduction of Chapter 22
Chapter “Hajj” – (The Pilgrimage) - 22
‘A-‘uu-zu Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast.)
Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.)
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast.)
Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.)
According to order, this is twenty second
Chapter of Holy Qur’an. There are ten Sections in this Chapter.
Instructions regarding “the Pilgrimage” have been mentioned in it, so its name
is chosen “Suratul-Hajj”. Maximum part of this Chapter was revealed in Makkah
and some part was revealed in Madinah. The part of Chapter, which was
revealed in Madinah, is very important, so generally it is written as “the
Madanii portion”.
Before this Chapter, in the last Section of
Suratul-‘Ambiyaaa’, there was mention about the Day of Resurrection that
this world will be destroyed and the entire human beings will be reproduced.
The disbelievers will be punished due to their disbelief and ascribing
plurality to Allaah Almighty, but the righteous people will be bestowed
with comfort and pleasure.
In this Chapter, circumstances of the Day
of Resurrection have been described in such fearful words that the hairs on end
stand. It has been commanded to the mankind: They should never be in doubt concerning
Allaah Almighty, otherwise their end will be worst. After that, proof of
coming back to life again has been explained with strong reason. Punishment of
the wicked deeds has been described as the Fire of the Hell, and glad tidings
have been given to the righteous people. The mankind should not worship Allaah Almighty for worldly benefits
but for winning His favor. The entire universe has been bowing before Allaah
Almighty, but it is misfortune of some people that they are refractory.
Then there is mention about the construction
of the Square Building at Makkah (The House of Allaah) by Prophet
Abraham (peace be upon him), and the people have been excited to perform its
Pilgrimage. After that, there is recitation of a Sacrifice (Qurbaanii).
The Muslims have been permitted to fight their enemies due to their
refractoriness. The mankind has been frightened that they should not have any
doubt in the Message which Allaah Almighty has sent by means of His
Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him). That is entirely
True. Satan cannot interfere in It. Those people have been commended who
departed from Makkah for the Cause of Allaah Almighty and it has
been promised with them that they will be helped. The opponents of Islam have
been caused to understand that in the religion, according to circumstances and
times, particular ways of acquiring the Will of Allaah Almighty are
determined. Therefore they should not quarrel about the ways which Holy Qur’an
has fixed. Nowadays those commandments are suitable which have been mentioned
in Holy Qur’an. All people will behold on the Day of Resurrection that only
the commandments mentioned in Holy Qur’an were Right. At the end,
helplessness of the idols has been proved by obvious argument that the mankind
should know Allaah Almighty correctly, and try to obey His commandments.
These are the teachings of Islam.
