Commentary
Haamidatan – (droughty, barren), it is the Subject
from the word ham-dun, which means “to occur drought, to wither”.
Rabat – (it swells, increases, heaves).
Bahiijin – (brilliant, splendid), it is an
adjective from the word bah-jatun, which means “delightful, blooming”.
‘Al-Haqqu – (the Truth, the Reality), this word is
also an adjective from Haqq. Haqq means “Right, True, God”.
The people who are in doubt concerning “the life after death”,
in fact they did not understand the Divine Power of Allaah Almighty. Therefore,
it is the way of removing this doubt that they should meditate in the portents
of Allaah’s Divine Power in this world, so that they may know well Allaah
Almighty during their worldly life. These portents exist even in the creation
of mankind themselves. After describing about them, now the attention is being
drawn toward the state of the earth, that a time comes when the earth is seen totally
droughty, lifeless and barren. After that, water falls in the form of raining,
then it becomes fresh, moist and swells being wet; and is mollified. Then various
kinds of fruits, flowers and grains come out from it. These entire are wonders
of the Divine Power of Allaah Almighty, which show that He really exists
Who quickens the dead. And His Divine Power has been surrounding everything. He
does what He desires.
