Lesson

‘Ajdaru – (more likely), this word is from judurun. Judurun means “to be able to”. The person, who is more (in any attribute) than someone else in comparison, is called ‘ajdaru. In common use, it is said “he can do only this, unable to perform any other work”.

Inhabitants of any city; learn quickly the manners and the etiquettes because they live in such environment where means of education are spread. Contrary to this, the inhabitants of villages are of hard nature and unable to learn new things quickly. In the beginning, there was mention about the inhabitants of the city that three kinds of people are found there i.e. Infidels, Hypocrites and true Believers.

Though, capacity of their temperament wants to learn the good things quickly. On the contrary, the villagers are more uncivilized. Therefore, we can observe the difference between inhabitants of the city and the village every day. Even then; above three kinds of people exist into them. In this verse, common condition of the wandering Arabs (villagers) has been described.

It is commanded that usually inhabitants of the villages are more hard on their old habits. There are a few people into them who can understand the matters of higher level. While infidelity and hypocrisy has been in force into them; then now; they have held severely these habits and have become expert in both. Their natures have become so, that they are very slow in learning new principles and manners.

They are not capable of learning such formal Rules and Regulations which Allah Almighty has sent down by means of His last Messenger (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam). But God Almighty is Aware of miseries of entire people’s natures and their capacities. And He treats every individual according to everyone’s capability and intelligence. Therefore, difficult works are not for them (villagers). Moreover, even such higher ranks will not be given to them which are for the wise and affable ones.

It is known from this verse that environments and surroundings take part to correct the temperament of the human being. By living with civilized people, a man gets utmost maturity. We learnt from it that correction of environment is most important item for education and training.
