Lesson

Verily an individual, who says himself Muslim, can never shirk his duty from any such movement, which has been determined compulsory by the public for their safety and development. Certainly, he will try his best for participating in it; with his life and wealth. His heart can never accept it that he should sit hidden in any corner at such occasion. And if he has neither sufficient material for joining and nor can it be attained from anywhere, then he will suffer such shock; as it can be to someone by any personal loss. The pages of world’s history are empty from providing such proof of spirit of cooperation, which is given by the Companions (May Allah be pleased with them) of God’s Last Messenger (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam).

It is commanded that some servants of God Almighty come unto You; O Messenger (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam) being fond of Jihad and say: We have arranged for equipment of journey according to our requirement, but it is impossible for us to arrange any horse etc. for conveyance. Please arrange to provide us any conveyance.

And when You reply them: Those all things have come in use which were deposited with Me. Now I have neither any horse and nor any camel which I may provide you for conveyance. Then hearts of those people are melancholy and sorrowful. They return disappointed with eyes flowing with tears for sorrow that – Alas! We are unable to purchase anything for our conveyance and may acquire happiness of joining Army for Jihad.

Since that journey towards Tabuuk was of very far. It was very difficult to join the Army (without conveyance) which was moving for that journey. Therefore, those people; who did neither have their conveyance and nor it could be given to them from the collected public contributions, they were excused from participation, and feelings of their hearts were considered equal to their participation.
