Circumstances of the Resurrection Day
Surah YUUNUS - 10 (JONAH)
BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In
the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

45.
And on the Day when He shall gather them together, (when it will seem)
as though they had tarried but an hour of the day, recognizing one another.
Those will verily have perished who denied the meeting with Allah and were
not guided.

45. Wa Yawma
yah-shuruhum ka-‘allam yal-basuuu
‘illaa
saa-;atam-minan-nahaari yata-‘aara-fuuna bay-nahum.
Qad khasi-ralla-ziina kazzabuu
bi-liqaaa-‘Illaahi wa maa
kaanuu muh-tadiin.

Commentary
It was commanded in the previous verse that Allah Almighty does not
wrong the people in aught, but they wrong themselves. Apparent pomp and show of
the world and its temporary pleasures delight him so much that he does never
think “from where I have come and what covenant have I made with Allah
Almighty?”
Allah Almighty commands: Sometimes, you should remember the Last Day also.
At this time you consider it that it is a myth, but when the affliction will
fall on you; then save looking from side to side in discomfiture; you will be
able to do nothing. These nights of merriments, days of recreation and
rejoicing, which you enjoyed during entire life; and did never remember even
for any moment about your death, being entangled in your amusements, will not
be seen by you on the Day f Resurrection; but like perplexed dreams. When you
will be ordered to be assembled in the Resurrection Field, then you will say
sorrowfully: How soon the days of luxurious enjoyment have been over? How we
have fallen under terrible things? It seems that we stayed in the world for a
trice only.
One more misfortune would be that all the fun and neglect shall perish.
Worldly relatives and companions will know one another but none will be able to
help any other. Every individual will look out for him/herself only and own
interests. Friends and supporters, liar gods, rulers and subordinates will give
a point blank refusal. There will be none for asking about your condition in that
world. All people will be with one another but everyone will be alone.
However, such people who established their connection with Allah
Almighty and His Messenger (grace, blessings and peace be upon Him) being
disinterested from the world and the people of the world; and formed a
friendship with Them by breaking their relationship from the entire people,
they will be free from such fright. Those who had believed in the world that they
would have to be present before Allah Almighty and admitted their meeting with
Him, they will be away from all confusions. But who denied the meeting with
Allah Almighty, slighted the Revelations of Holy Qur’aan and Sayings of the last Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace,
blessings and peace be upon Him), will repent on that Day and see that they are
cursory losers. The path, which they chose in the world, was totally wrong. But
understanding it in the Hereafter will not be useful for them. They should
understand these matters today.
