Reason of infidelity
Chapter “Naml”- (The Ant) - 27
‘A-‘uu-zu Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah
from Satan the outcast)
Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

قَالَتْ كَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ وَأُوتِينَا ٱلْعِلْمَ مِن قَبْلِهَا وَكُنَّا مُسْلِمِينَ 42b وَصَدَّهَا مَا كَانَت تَّعْبُدُ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ إِنَّهَا كَانَتْ مِن قَوْمٍ كَٰفِرِينَ 43

42b. She said: (it is)
as though it were the very one. And we were given the knowledge before it and
we had surrendered (to Allah).
43. And (all) that she
was wont to worship instead of Allah hindered her, for she came of
disbelieving folk.

42b. Qaalat ka-‘annahuu
huu. Wa ‘uutiinal-‘ilma min-
qablihaa wa kunnaa
Muslimiin.
43. Wa saddahaa
maa kaanat- ta’-budu min
duuNillaah. ‘In-nahaa kaanat
min- qawmin kaafiriin.

Commentary
When Bilquiis saw towards the throne;
she began to think. Most of things were same as those were in her own throne. But
some of them were altered. She wondered that what answer she should give. Eventually
it came in her mind which she had already set concerning Prophet Solomon (peace
be upon him). That is to say, he (peace be upon him) was a man of unusual strength
and the Creator of the World has given him that all which is not attainable to
others. Even then she replied carefully and said: It seems that this is the
same which is of mine. Along with it she said also: We had already known before
looking this token that this person {Solomon (peace be upon him)} was a Prophet
of Allaah Almighty, and we had decided to obey him.
It appears from this discussion that Bilquiis
had reached the result by her natural sense and prudence that Real God can be
He only Whose Power is boundless, Who is Creator and Lord of the Worlds.
As soon as letter from Solomon (peace be upon
him) reached, she was sure that he (peace be upon him) was a Messenger of The
Creator of the Worlds. Next, it is known from this verse too that she had
belief in her heart. But she did not proclaim for the reason that entire people
of her tribe were adorers of the sun. There was no concept of Allaah in
the heart of any individual. And she was a customarily colleague in adoration of
the sun along with them. When she came to Solomon (peace be upon him), then her
hidden Belief had risen by his letter. After looking the token of the throne,
her belief was strengthened and she admitted it openly.
