Commentary
It was commanded in the previous verse that some are such people
who say by their mouths that they believe in Allaah Almighty, accept His
Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) and are obedient in
all respect. But when the time of obedience comes, they forget their treaty, disobey
entirely and turn aside in refusal. It is clear that their all long and wide
pretensions of belief and obedience were false totally. They used to say for
the time being to accomplish their desires. But neither there was belief in
their hearts and nor ever they thought that their obedience will be examined. Such
people are hypocrites.
Their one more trickery has been described in this verse, explanation
of which has passed in Suratun-Nisaa’. But it has been indicated here
too, so that their impostures may be disclosed completely. And the Muslims may
become cautious from them.
It is commanded: When they are called (for the judgment of their
disputes) to the Words of Allaah Almighty and His Messenger (grace,
glory, blessings and peace be upon him), then there are some such people of
them who do not agree upon it, because it appears before them clearly that he (grace,
glory, blessings and peace be upon him) will decide the dispute with justice
and they will be at a loss, because their claim is in fact false. However, if
they have assurance that the decision will be in favor of them, then they slink
away unto the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) happily.
They don’t care in this matter that the right should reach the Rightful, but
they wish that the decision should be in favor of them, whether their claim is
false.
