LESSON # 71 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Town Life for The Israelite
Verse – 58 of 286, Section – 6 (Part  - 1)
And when We said: Go into this township and eat freely of that which is therein, and enter the gate prostrate, and say: “Repentance”. We will forgive you your sins and will increase (reward) for the right doers.
Wa ‘iz qulnad-khuluu haazihil-qaryata fakuluu minhaa haysu shi’-tum ragadanw-wad-khulul-baaba sujjadanw-wa quuluu hittatun, nagfir-lakum khataa-yaakum. Wa sanaziidul-Muh-siniin.

Lesson

Al-Qaryata – (Township) the Historians have told that this colony was a famous city of Palestine named ‘Areehaa’. It was conquered by the children of Israel during the time of Prophet Yusha (peace be upon Him) after expiry of the Prophet Moses (peace be upon Him).

Hittatun – (Repentance) it is abbreviation of a sentence that means, “O our Lord! Forgive our mistakes”. The children of Israel were instructed to say with their tongues the word, “Repentance”, while entering the city.

Muh-siniin – (Right doers) this word is made from ‘ahsaan’ which means to favour, kindness and well doing.

The God Almighty showed all the land of “Kin’aan” carrying the Prophet Moses (peace be upon Him) up to the river bank of Jordon and told, “I give this country to the children of Israel and you will conquer this city Areehaa in near future. While you enter in it you will get favors of the God Almighty and different types of fruit. So at the time of entering in the gate prostrate, and say: “Repentance” and not to be proud and haughty. We will forgive you your sins and will increase (reward) for the right doers.

The children of Israel did not obey the God Almighty whole heartedly but started disobeying so they were entitled for agony of God. Complete detail will be discussed in the coming onward verses.

The time becomes very difficult for the nations when they get favors of God Almighty and do not thank Him. Instead of thanking God they choose the path of violence. They see the agony and do not get it as warning but become more intoxicated. They get guidance and do not adopt the straight path but start violating.

LESSON # 72 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Punishment On Changing the Speech of God
Verse – 59 of 286, Section – 6 (Part  - 1)
But those who did wrong changed the word which had been told them for another saying, so We sent down upon the evildoers wrath from heaven for their evildoing.
Fabadda-lallaziina zala-muu qaw-lan gay-rallazii qiila lahum fa-‘anzalnaa ‘alallaziina  zalamuu rijzam-minas-samaaa-‘i  bimaa kaanuu yaf-suquun.

Lesson

Badda-la – (changed) the words which had been told them for saying, they changed them and adopted those words in which the meanings of buffoonery test and laughter were hidden in place of forgiveness.

Rijzun – (wrath) Wrath of the God Almighty comes in different forms over the persons who become evildoer, disloyal, mutineer or rebel. This word is also used for each type of torture. The commentators of the religion have told that the word ‘wrath’ pointed in this verse, was in the form of Plague on the children of Israel.

Bimaa kaanuu yaf-suquun – (because they were evildoers, they used to disobey).  This word is made from the word fisq that means disobeying, corruption, adulteration or fornication. So the person who is evildoer or who disobeys the Order of God Almighty is called Faasiq (adulterer, fornicator and corrupt). This sentence signifies that the children of Israel had not abstained physically due to which the Plague spread over them. But they used to disobey the orders of God Almighty continuously; resultantly they were punished with the disease plague.

While the children of Israel conquered the city of Areehaa during the period of Prophet Yusha’ (peace be upon Him) these people became evildoers instead of thanking God Almighty and changing His orders began to do laughter, fun, joke and buffoonery. So instead of using the word ‘hittatun‘(Begging mercy or Grace) they entered the city saying ‘hintatun fii sha’ratin’ (grain in the spike of corn) and instead of prostrating entered the gate of city dragging themselves.

They were punished with the Plague disease due to this disobedience and God Almighty says, “We sent down upon the evildoers wrath from heaven for their evildoing”. It was the result that nearly seventy thousand children of Israel became victim of the Plague.

God Almighty is reminding the children of Israel His favors over them so that they bear in their minds and come towards the straight path thanking Him.

We learnt from this verse that due to His favors we should thank God, the Most High. The nations are ruined due to haughtiness and proud.

LESSON # 73 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Twelve Springs
Verse – 60 of 286, Section – 7 (Part  - 1)
And when Moses asked for water for his people, We said: Smite with thy staff the rock. So there gushed out therefrom twelve springs (so that) each tribe knew their drinking-place. Eat and drink of that which Allah hath provided, and do not act corruptly, making mischief in the earth.
Wa ‘izis-tasqaa Muusaa li-qawmihii faqulnazrib- bi- ‘Asaakal-hajar. Fan-fajarat min-husnataa ‘ashrata ‘aynaa  Qad ’alima kullu ‘unaasim-mashrabahum. Kuluu wash-rabuu mir-rizqillaahi wa laa ta’-saw fil-‘arzi mufsidiin.

Lesson

‘Asaa – (staff, stick, club) It has been mentioned in many verses of Holy Qur’aan about the stick of Prophet Moses (peace be upon Him). This stick was bestowed to Him as a miracle. To cross the sea, the path made by this stick, twelve springs began to flow smiting the rock of stone with this stick, it swallowed the snakes and scorpions of the magicians of Pharaoh after becoming a dragon.

Isnataa ‘ashrata ‘aynaa – (twelve springs) after wandering confused in the desert and barren wilderness of the peninsula of Sinai the children of Israel reached the place where water was not available. When after searching they did not find water they enraged upon the Prophet Moses (peace be upon Him). The Prophet (peace be upon Him) begged from the God Almighty. He was commanded to smite the rock with His staff. So there gushed out therefrom twelve springs (so that) each tribe knew their drinking-place.

It was only the favor of the God Almighty that they were provided the water here as in a dry desert and were ordered, “Eat and drink of that which Allah hath provided, and do not act corruptly, making mischief in the earth”.

It is found from this narration that whenever we do not see any support or cause for eating and drinking, the God, the Most High arranges and provides eatables and drinkables with His Mercy and Power. It is the duty of human being that he should beg from Him only and he should not be hopeless from His Mercy. The God Almighty is “the Merciful and Kind”. If the person disobeys, he gets loss for himself only and which the wrath descends that is due to his own evildoings.

LESSON # 74 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Weariness Of The Israelite
Verse – 61a of 286, Section – 7 (Part  - 1)
And when ye said: O Moses! We are weary of one kind of food; so call upon thy Lord for us that He brings forth for us of that which the earth groweth – of its herbs and its cucumbers and its corn and its lentils and its onions. He said: Would ye exchange that which is higher for that which is lower? Go down to settled country, thus ye shall get that which ye demand.
Wa ‘iz qultum yaa-Muusaa lan-nasbira ‘alaa ta-‘aa-minw-waahidin- fad-‘u lanaa Rabbaka yukh-rij lanaa mim-maa tumbitul-‘arzu mim- baqli-haa wa qissaaa-‘ihaa wa fuu-mihaa wa ‘adasihaa wa basali-haa.  Qaala ‘atas-tabdiluunal-lazii huwa ‘adnaa billazii huwa khayr. ‘Ih-bituu misran- fa-‘innalakum- maa sa- ‘altum.

Lesson

Misran – (city) Here aim of misran is any city of peninsula Sinai or in its surroundings. Literal meaning of Misr is a city of which demarcation would have been completed. However, it does not mean presently the country Egypt.

This incident was also happened in the desert and wilderness of the Peninsula of Sinai. The children of Israel used to eat heavenly food ‘Manna and Quails’ with much taste for a long time but they felt weary from this food. Although these foods were being provided to them free of cost. They said to their Prophet (peace be upon Him), “O Moses! We are weary of one kind of food; so call upon thy Lord for us that He bring forth for us of that which the earth groweth – of
its herbs and its cucumbers and its corn and its lentils and its onions”. They requested to bring them towards some other place from this wilderness where all kinds of city and country foods, vegetables are available for them.

The Prophet Moses (peace be upon Him) admonished them first of all that their order was not well. The heavenly food they were getting without working hard that was much better than those things which needed hard work. But the children of Israel resisted on their talk. Then the Prophet Moses (peace be upon Him) said, “Go and live in any better city. You will attain there the food of your choice”.

LESSON # 75 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Wrath Of God On Jews
Verse – 61b of 286, Section – 7 (Part  - 1)
And humiliation and wretchedness were stamped upon them and they were visited with wrath from Allah.
Wa zuribat ‘alayhimuz-zillatu  wal-mas-kanah; wa baaa’uu bi-gazabim- minallaah.

Lesson

Zuribat – (stamped, struck, hit, hammered) in this verse this word is used for ‘stamped upon them’ (humiliation).

Zillatun – (humiliation, disgrace, insult)

Mas-kanatun – (wretchedness, poverty, needs, destitution) it is said usually that the Jews as a nation are the richest but it is a deception and misunderstanding. The wealth and property which the Jews have that is only limited to their some superior people, although public and common people are financially weak.

God Almighty bestowed many kinds of blessings and kindnesses but they did not thank Him. They used to disobey the Laws of the God Almighty. They were given Manna and Quails for their eating but they had not patience on this favor and claimed for ignoble items like vegetables, cucumbers and corn etc.

Due to their ingratitude behaviour the wrath of God Almighty appeared upon them.
•        Humiliation was pasted upon them. So this nation remained subordinate of Muslims and Christians. During May 1949 their Government was established with the name of “State of Israel” but that was established with the help of Western Governments and even now their existence is due to injustice behaviour of the Western countries.

Besides humiliation, wretchedness and poverty were stamped upon them also. There are only some persons who are fortunate otherwise maximum people are very poor. The persons who suppose it their native country and if they are rich, they are involved in avarice and the love of wealth. They have ambition, lust and greed of wealth surpassing everything.

It is known from this lesson that the person should always be thankful to the God Almighty for His blessings so that the blessings are remained forever because till the time any nation thanks God for His blessings, He bestows the favors. And the person should never criticize the religion of God Almighty because the human being is ignorant from the result of goodness, betterment and virtue of anything.

LESSON # 76 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Cause Of The God’s Wrath
Verse – 61 of 286, Section – 7 (Part  - 1)
That was because they disbelieved in Allah’s Revelations and slew the Prophets wrongfully. That was for their disobedience and transgression.
Zaalika bi-‘annahum kaanuu yakfuruuna bi-‘aayaatillaahi wa yaq-tuluunan-nabiy-yiina bi-gayril-haq. Zaalika bimaa ‘asaw-wa kaanuu ya’-taduun.

Lesson

Yakfuruuna – (Disbelieved) it is derived from the word kafara. Literal meaning of kafara is ‘not to believe, to hide’. Technically not to believe the Oneness of God and Prophet-hood is called infidelity. So Kaafir means Infidel. It aims in this verse that the children of Israel had become habitual of infidelity and denial.

‘Aayaatillaahi – (Allah’s Revelations, verses, tokens, signs) it also signifies towards the Miracles of the Prophets (peace be upon Them), Heavenly Books & Orders and Commands of the God Almighty too.

Yaq-tuluuna – (Slew, murdered, killed) the children of Israel crossing the limits of infidelity and violence killed the Prophets (peace be upon Them). They convicted to slay the Prophets John, Zachariah, Yasa’-yaa’ and Yarmiaa (peace be upon Them).

As we have read in the previous lessons that the children of Israel were overtaken in the wrath of the God Almighty. Humiliation and wretchedness were stamped upon them. Causes of wrath are being narrated in this verse.

God Almighty commands that the children of Israel had become habitual of two main crimes:
•        They did not act upon the orders of God Almighty whole hearted. Moreover they used to peel of the s`kin from hair without fail, and criticized in each matter unreasonably with quarrelsome manner.
•        They slew their Prophets (peace be upon Them). After the Prophet Moses, God Almighty sent many Prophets (peace be upon Them) but they did not listen to any one. Moreover they became their (Prophets) enemies. Some of them were blamed and some were slain.

Causes of these crimes have also been narrated in this verse that they disobeyed the Orders of God Almighty and Instructions of His Prophets (peace be upon Them), and had become habitual to get out of the limitations of the Religion. It was the result that as they turned their faces from the Revelations of God Almighty and slew the Prophets (peace be upon Them) so they were overtaken the wrath of God Almighty.

LESSON # 77 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Reward Of Faith and Doing Good
Verse – 62 of 286, Section – 8 (Part  - 1)
Lo! Those who believe (in that which is revealed unto thee, Muhammad), and those who are Jews, and Christians, and Sabaeans – whoever believeth in Allah and the   Last Day and doeth right – surely their reward is with their Lord, and there shall no fear come upon them neither shall they grieve.
‘Innal-laziina ‘aa-manuu wallaziina haadu wan-Nasaaraa was-Saabi-‘iina  man  ‘aamana billaahi wal-Yawmil-‘Aakhiri wa ‘amila saalihan falahum  ‘ajruhum ‘inda Rabbihim, wa laa khaw-fun ‘alayhim wa laa hum yah-zanuun.

Lesson

‘Aa-manuu – (Believe) in this verse to believe means to join the Muslim Community.

Haadu – (Jews) the persons who are entered in the Jews Class, either they are the children of Israel or otherwise.
Nasaaraa – (Christians) Nasaaraa is plural of Nasraani. There is a town in Palestine named ‘Naasirah’. The Prophet Jesus (peace be upon Him) was born in this town. Due to relation with this town the Prophet Jesus (peace be upon Him) is called Jesus Christ Naasri (peace be upon Him). So who follow Him is included in Nasaaraa (Followers of the Christ who was born in Naasirah).

As-Saabi-‘iina – (Sabaeans) a person, who inclined towards some other religion leaving his/her own is called Saabi. It was a sect in the Arab. They believed to the Prophet Abraham (peace be upon Him), used to do worship of the Angels (peace be upon Them), recited the Psalms of Prophet David (peace be upon Him) and during the worship they turned towards the Temple of Makkah. The Arabians used to say them Saabi ‘disbelievers’.

God Almighty has removed misunderstanding of the greatness of the Name, the Family background and the Race, and announced that near to Allah Almighty the Name and surname or title are nothing, neither honor of good birth from a particular nation or race and distinction is trustworthy. Two things are necessary for freedom from the wrath of God Almighty, wishing the people either belong to any race or nation, or they have any surname or title.
•       They believe in Allah and the Last Day (the Day of Resurrection) with whole hearted.
•        They do right (good)

If the people will believe in Allah Almighty then they also will admit His Orders and Commands. We have known these Orders and Commands through the Last Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon Him). So having belief on this Prophet (peace be upon Him) is also included in it. If they will believe on the Day of Resurrection then they would have to believe the wrath and reward.

In short to have belief on the God Almighty and obey His orders is necessary for liberty and reward, and it is impossible to have belief on God Almighty without acceptance of the Prophet-hood of the Last Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings upon Him).

LESSON # 78 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Elevation Of The Mount Toor
Verse – 63 of 286, Section – 8 (Part  - 1)
And (remember, O Children of Israel) when We made a covenant with you and caused the (Mount) Toor to tower above you, (saying): Hold fast that which We have given you, and remember that which is therein, that ye may ward off (evil).
Wa ‘iz ‘akhaznaa Miisaaqa-kum wa rafa’-naa fawqakumut-Tuur. Khuzuu maaa ‘aatay-naakum-  bi-quwwatinw-waz – kuruu maa fiihi  Ia-‘allakum tattaquun.

Lesson

At-Tuur – (Toor) Every mountain is called Toor as per Arabic language. A particular Mountain in the peninsula Sinai is also named as ‘Toor’. That is called “Jabal i-Toor” too.

Az – kuruu maa fiihi – (remember that which is therein) the subjects which are contained in Holy Book Torah, remember them so that you may act upon them. To act upon them is the main need for remembering the Orders of God Almighty.

Tattaquun – (have fear of God) this word is from “Taqwaa”. To remain ward off the evils and pass the life carefully is called Taqwaa. That is also called abstinence, control of the passions. Who is good natured, well wisher and has a good disposition is named “muttaqii”. Islam has stated it as a great excellence and perfection of mankind.

The children of Israel used to demand obstinately to bring a genuine Book of Orders so that they might act upon it. These people used to promise that they would follow completely on the religious matters. But when they were given the Holy Book Torah they inclined to oppose it and began to say that the Orders mentioned in Torah are very heavy and difficult. We can not act upon them.

To challenge them from disobeying and violence Allah Almighty ordered the Mount Toor which was elevated over their heads. Seeing it the children of Israel began to shiver (for afraid of their death) and they had lost the courage of opposing, and now they admitted by force the Laws of Torah.

At this stage promise was taken from the children of Israel, “You will neither dispute nor play the stratagems and argue to believe the Holy Book “Torah”. They were also told to make the law of passing their lives according to the Orders and subjects of this Heavenly Book, act upon them punctually so that fear of God Almighty is produced in their hearts and “ye may ward off (evil).”

LESSON # 79 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Punishment For Turning Away From The Law
Verse – 64 of 286, Section – 8 (Part  - 1)
Then, even after that, ye turned away, and if it had not been for the Grace of Allah upon you and His mercy ye had been among the losers.
Summa tawal-laytum-mim-ba’—di  zaalik.  Falaw- laa  faz-lullaahi  ‘alaykum  wa rahmatu-huu la-kuntum-minal-khaasi-riin.

Lesson

Khaasi-riin – (the losers) the word Khasaara has been derived from khaasi-riin that means the damage; the loss, deficiency. So khaasi-riin means the persons who suffer loss, who ruin their present lives as well as their end (the Doomsday).

History of the children of Israel tells that the God Almighty bestowed upon them a lot of kindnesses and favors but they always disobeyed instead of obeying and adopted thankless behaviour instead of being thankful to Him. He let them set free from the slavery of Pharaoh, commanded them to live in the forests of the Peninsula of Sinai so that virtue and passions of an independent and crusader nation may grow into them due to passing their lives in the desert and country atmosphere, they might get freedom from the affects of their long time slavery but they did not like it. They claimed to live in towns so that they might eat different types of fruit, they might pass their lives with laziness and inactively. The God Almighty completed their wishes.

They used to demand from the Prophet Moses (peace be upon Him) to bring for them Guide Book so that they might follow it. God Almighty bestowed the Holy Book Torah and got promise from them that they would follow it always and would never bend upon violence.

After revelation of the Holy Book Torah they broke their promise and began to bend upon violation. God Almighty forgave this error and mischief also. If there would not be available His Mercy and Kindness then the children of Israel might be ruined and disgraced at the spot in this world besides entitled the wrath on the Day of Resurrection. God Almighty advised the children of Israel with His Kindness by sending His Prophets Solomon, David, Samuel and others (peace be upon Them) and told them the straight path. These Prophets (peace be upon Them) tried their best to bring them on the straight path. It was Excellence of the God Almighty otherwise the Jew had arranged for them to be ruined immediately.

God Almighty’s Mercy and Kindness are the greatest supports for human beings’ lives and their safety. If He would not keep Mercy and Kindness, would not ignore then there is no space for any person anywhere.

LESSON # 80 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Change In Faces From Good To Bad
Verse – 65 of 286, Section – 8 (Part  - 1)
And ye know of those of you who broke the Sabbath, so We said unto them: Be ye apes, despised and hated.
Wa  laqad  ‘alim-tumul-laziina’-tadaw  minkum fis-Sabti  fa-qulnaa lahum  kuunuu  qira-datan khaasi-‘iin.

Lesson

Minkum – (out of you) it signifies towards the fathers, ancestors; forefathers of the children of Israel.

As-Sabt – (the day of “Saturday”) Literal meaning of Sabt is Saturday. As near to Christians ‘Sunday’ is a holy day and Muslims celebrating ‘Friday’ as the holy day, like this the Jews count ‘Saturday’ as their holy day. Saturday was specified only for the worship of God near to them. Worldly works like business, agriculture or hunting were forbidden for them.

A’-tadaw – (to encroach, to cross the limits) they crossed the limits of Divine’s Law.

It has come in the traditions that during the time of Prophet David (peace be upon Him) a large number of Jews lived Ailah (a place in the south of Palestine). This event belongs to that population. These persons used to disobey the commands of God Almighty with cleverness and tactfully. They were instructed not to hunt the fish absolutely on Saturday. The God Almighty wished to examine them too. Usually the fish used to come near the bank of river in much quantity on Saturday.

The Jews planned tactfully carrying on the outward form of the orders of God Almighty. They used to dig the pit holes near the bank of river on Saturday. Large quantity of the fish used to reach in these pit holes with water. Then they used to close the way of water from the river side towards the pit holes. Next day they used to hold the fish from these pit holes. Due to continuously disobeying the God Almighty they were punished, were shaped as apes   and their faces were changed from good to bad.

It appears from this verse that some commands come from the God Almighty only for examining. It is the aim of examination to clarify that the servants of God Almighty remain obedient in both the situations i.e. rest and hardness. If the human being rises to the situation of test, there are a lot of facilities for him but punishment is very tough for the ill-natured and evil doers.

LESSON # 81 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Warning Stock
Verse – 66 of 286, Section – 8 (Part  - 1)
So We made it an example to their own and to succeeding generations, and an admonition to the God-fearing.
Faja-‘alnaahaa  nakaalal-limaa  bayna yadayhaa  wa maa khal-fahaa  wa maw-‘izatal-lil-Muttaqiin.

Lesson

Nakaalan – (warning) it means a punishment and incident so which becomes warning for others, looking it the persons get admonition.

Purpose of narrating the important events of the history of Israelite in Holy Qur’aan on one side is that the children of Israel feel repentance and be much ashamed. They recognize their reality and incline towards the straight path. And on the other side it is admonition for the Muslims. They get it as warning from the incidents of previous nations, check an account of their deeds, take a lesson and adjust themselves in the light of Holy Qur’aan.

Which event we have discussed in the previous verse that has much importance in the history of the children of Israel and all these people know it very well. The Holy Qur’aan is drawing their attention too towards that incident.

After expressing the incident the Holy Qur’aan declared in this verse, “So We made it an example to their own and to succeeding generations, and an admonition to the God-fearing”. So that all the persons are informed with the result of disobeying the commands of God Almighty, be careful for ever and each moment. It is the fact that this incident is a guide for particularly God-fearing persons. Their belief is perfect with it that only the fear of God is root cause of all the goodness for human beings.

After understanding this verse now there is no doubt that certainly disobeying the commands of God Almighty becomes main cause of a great wrath. We should always keep it in front of us. It is not a customary thing “changing of good faces into bad and becoming apes from the mankind”. The human beings should used to have fear from the wrath and anger of God Almighty.

It also comes out from this verse that how much a person can get admonition from the previous events. In fact this Holy Qur’aan (the Speech of God) impressed upon minds very clearly about the benefits of the history and that every incident or event can not become history. Only those events deserve to become part of history from which the person may get any fair lesson.

LESSON # 82 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Command To Sacrifice A Cow
Verse – 67 of 286, Section – 8 (Part  - 1)
And when Moses said unto his people: Lo! Allah commandeth you that ye sacrifice a cow, they said: Dost thou make fun of us? He answered: Allah forbid that I should be among the foolish.
Wa  ‘iz  qaala Muusaa li-qawmihiii  ‘innallaaha  ya’-mu-rukum  ‘an- tazbahuu BAQARAH. Qaaluuu  ‘a-tattakhi-zunaa huzuwaa   Qaala ‘a-uuzu bil-laahi ‘an ‘akuuna minal-jaahiliin.

Lesson

‘A-tattakhi-zunaa huzuwaa – (Dost thou make fun of us?) the cow was very sacred near to the children of Israel. When the Prophet Moses (peace be upon Him) caused to hear the command of God Almighty they remained aghast. They did not believe that it would have been commanded to sacrifice like this sacred animal. They supposed that the Prophet Moses (peace be upon Him) would have made fun of them.

Al-jaahiliin – (the foolish, the ignorant, the uneducated, and the illiterates) this word al-jaahiliin is derived from jahal. Literal meaning of it is to do any work contrary to its actual nominated method. If it is due to ignorance then the stupidity is simple and if it is done intentionally then the stupidity is compound. The Prophet Moses (peace be upon Him) asks from God Almighty for refuge from the both stupidities. The person who wishes to command the people at the name of God Almighty, either he is indolent from the God or he is foolish and is incautious from the results of making fun in the religious matters.

A person was killed out of the children of Israel but the killer was not traceable. God Almighty commanded the Prophet Moses (peace be upon Him) to order the children of Israel for sacrificing a cow and beat a piece of its meat at the dead body of the killed. With it the murdered person will come back to the life and will tell the name of his killer.

Due to residing many centuries in the Egypt the children of Israel began to deem the cow very sacred so they supposed that perhaps the Prophet Moses (peace be upon Him) is making fun of them. The Prophet Moses (peace be upon Him) removed their doubt and made them to understand that the Prophets (peace be upon Them) never make fun in the religious matters and in the commands of God Almighty. Making fun of others is the job of the stupid. Wise persons never commit the acts like this which are contrary to the dignity, honour and glory, and which become cause of disgrace of the religion.
