Commentary

The work of the Messengers (peace be upon them) and their followers is really very difficult. Firstly, the Omnipotent has laid this responsibility on them that they should warn the entire people from the consequence of their wicked deeds and explain before them, “Behold! You should never commit such works which are bad for you; but do always such works which are good for you”. Secondly, the world has been created in such a way that some such people exist in it who are hardhearted, who prefer their personal desires over everything and do not distinguish between good and bad works. And they become enemy of that person who prevents them from doing wrong.

Therefore, it is commanded for satisfying the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace of Allaah be upon him): You should do your work properly and should not care about opposition of such people. We have put barriers before and behind them, and covered them with the veil of carelessness due to their obstinacy and adversity of their evils. Now they can see nothing from any side. It is all the same for them whether you warn them or do not warn them, they will not believe.

It was described in the previous verse that their necks do not bend down due to their pride and haughtiness; so that they may see the Signs of the Divine Power into themselves. In this verse, it has been explained that when their carelessness does not let them see even the outer Signs, which have been spreading all around, then how will they believe?
